I am concidering going to these tires and was wanting some opinions on tire wear, traction, etc.
Oh, and I'd have to get rid of my current Regul MTs too. They're 32x11.50 and have about 2/3 tread left. I realize that this should be posted in the classified area, but for now I'm just looking for info on the tires and if someone wants these current ones then I may get new ones sooner. ---------------------- 1994 Hardbody Reg. I just ran into a friend who is running them on his TJ. He said he has only 5000 miles on them, and they look like they have more than that. The problem with aggressive specialized tires is that they are usualy soft and wear a lot more. I think Maxxis makes a similar tire but I do not know it's wear time.

Mickey's are soft, but the claw does rather well offroad. If you need longevity, I'd go with something a bit tougher, maybe even the Goodyear MT/R's, they seem to do well.

I guess I could look at the MTR. I have heard that they don't wear so well either though. I really want a tire that will work well, as well as turn heads and not be a copy cat deal. MTRs are undoubtably cool, but you can see them everywhere, even on Sheriff's trucks!
I was affraid that was the kind of answers I'd get. Bad wear is bad news for me, as I commute 60 miles a day. Oh well. Thanks ---------------------- 1994 Hardbody Reg. Cab N.I.S.S.A.N Not In Swanky, Southwest, or Arizona. No cool accronym in my sig |

The wear you get on your tires will be partially dependent on how your drive and how you maintain them. Keep them aired properly, don't do burn-outs with your mudders (yeah, it can be done), keep them rotated (and front-end aligned) and they'll last as long as possible.
I wouldn't expect any off-road tire to last as long as an A/T or street tire. But, I've gotten almost 50K out of General Grabbers, and as little as 30K out of BFG MT's. I considered Claws, but being a directional tire, I shyed away. Wanted to do a 5 tire cross rotation. Yeah, fancy talk for having to rotate more often, but thought it might get me longer tire life. Besides, if your tires last too long, you can't swap 'em out for new ones. And then you wouldn't have that yummy "new rubber" smell everytime you walked up to your truck! Yeah, tire life isn't the most important thing to me. I mean, I don't want bogger type wear, but 25-30 is good enough for me.
I only have about 8 on my current tires and I wanna get rid of them anyway. ---------------------- 1994 Hardbody Reg. Cab N.I.S.S.A.N Not In Swanky, Southwest, or Arizona. No cool accronym in my sig |
