I found these on Xterrafirma and the post says they aren't for sale yet and will probably be pretty expensive. Always cool to see new aftermarket stuff for Nissan's and especially Xterra's.

Is it common for these to fail?

Have never seen one fail in the splines if the Tbar was installed correctly. Have seen a few Tbars spin out, but they weren't seated all the way to begin with.

Still, this would be good for a desert race truck like the ones SLR plays with.

I wouldn't say it's "common", but I managed to shear one completely in HALF Eyes when I got high-centered on it, then got "yanked" off. This is NOT fun. You then have to drive with your whole susp. collapsed!!! (YEAH...it sucked!!!!) Don't know if it matters or not, but I have 2 OR 3 in my garage STILL that came off of my '01 Frontier. They're used, but in good working condition, since I shortly thereafter went to a SAS! Later...

I've heard one or two stories of the rear one breaking. I never broke one and abused the IFS pretty good.

Then again I never broke a half shaft either, probably should have though Big Grin

Meh.

One of the NOAS guys broke one a couple years ago. He jammed a piece of wood between the bump stops to hold it up. Or it might have been a rock.

MVM did that same thing on a NTLA run in KY. Nissan Mike stuck a piece of wood in there to get him to camp and his wife brought his spares from home. Turned out that MVM did not have the new bars in all the way causing the shear.
Lator....
