dude i really hope most of you are doing this yourself and not taking it to someone. i just read the instructions and they aren't hard to understand and they have pictures with each step. break it open and learn something in the process...

Zeeto, I did my lift by myself with an occasional neighbor dropping by to hold something. I have done all the other work on my truck either alone or with someone. (It appears to function better if I get assistance). I have learned a great deal, gears on the other hand, measurements, grinding of the T-Case, did I say measurements, putting in a bearing wrong, losing a part. These are all things I am going to leave to someone else. Then the blame shifts right? I just spoke with DR on the phone and he did not sound very happy about taking his T-Case out. Either way your point is well made, the more you work on your truck, the better off you are.

hey that's fine with me, especially if you think this is the only time you'll do it. i knew for sure that it wouldn't be the only time i had to set up tcase gears and wasn't the only time i was going to be setting up a ring&pinion/locker/etc, so i did a little research, read the directions and did it myself. it turned out to be incredibly easy. the money saved on the install of the r&p bought me a spool, the money saved on the tcase install bought me my dual adaptor....

that is yet another good point, I probably will do this again since I am so addicted to 4 wheeling. I do have a problem right now with time and tools that is also an issue. not to mention the fact that if I do it, it could take weeks not days of having to get a rental car.

oh yeah i do forget that i have my path to drive while my yota sits, and some people wheel thier dd. if time is your big thing would it be possible for you personally to get a spare tcase, put the gears in there and then just swap them out? that way the only downtime on the truck would be pulling the tcase out and putting the new one in.

Yep, I think Andy suddenly has the baddest supercharged Xterra out there!

All he needs now are some Skid Row Skids underneath.

Thanks much guys. Everything is in including the T-Case and Locker. I have not done the Warn Hubs yet, probably Sat. I also ordered the emergency back hatch mod for Moab. It is truly amazing what you can do when you do not have to buy things for a wife! Oh ya and Skid plates should be coming by June! Still considering a front locker, new R&P 5.142, High lift jack, Calmini front bumper, Warn 8000 winch, lights, hope to have those for the AZ Run IV! Damn I am hooked on this stuff!

I really hate to ask how much you put into the truck this month.. (I've done that too).. but man, that thing is going to be SWEEEET on the trail. Looking forward to some slickrock action on Sunday.

With the SC, the auto, and the crawler gears, I honestly don't think I'd bother with the 5.14 gears. That's a lot of money for a little return. Made a lot more difference for me because I have an underpowered 4 cylinder...but save the $1500 you'd spend on gears and install and put it towards something else....like a SAWZALL! hehehe

As soon as I have $500 to spend. hehe Of course, I'd also need a notcher.. but those are relatively cheap in comparison.

FWIW, I got a hookup for CHEAP roll cage steel. Im getting a quote for enough to build some seatbelt mounts into the cage on the Patrol.
