Just tried to install a set of Goodridge G-Stop stainless steel brakelines on my truck. Part number 22081, listed as 9/86-95 Pathfinder (rear drum), 3 line set.

There is a fundamental problem with the pair of front lines. The brake line on my vehicle is flared. The Goodridge hose fitting is a female flare fitting. It needed to be an inverted flare. Totally incompatible. The single hose for the rear brakeline has the inverted flare fitting, so they got one of the 3 correct.

Besides getting angry at Goodridge over that, I was ticked off about something else. The banjo fitting at one end and the pipe fitting at the other are connected to the hose by compression unions. I am pissed! Considering how much they want for the hoses I am disappointed that they could not swage the hoses directly into the fittings.

Banjo bolts were about 4mm shorter than the stock bolts, so I worry that if I had to use them that there would not be enough thread contact.

Overall rating- a D-. I am going to return them on Monday.

I was SUPER happy with the lines I got from ANplumbing.com ... you have to know your fitting sizes, but they can make anything. It's actually a direct Earl's outlet store.

BTW, those aren't compression fittings, those are AN fittings, which is a 37 degree flare.

Thanks for the info on the fittings. I learned more about brake fittings in the last 3 days than I thought I would ever have to know!

I don't really care what type of fittings they are, BTW, as far as I am concerned there should not be any at all.
