I got this thing from AC a couple weeks back. $35 is a steal! I got it just in case I get really stuck and the winch won't pull me out...since it's only rated for 4200lbs.

So I go to test it out today...I pulled all the line off the winch and got everything ready. I plugged in the remote, push the button...and nothing. Dead winch. So the pickle fork came into play and I smacked the control box a few times and wiggled stuff around...and it started working.

That thing makes your winch cable look small.

FYI: when using a doubler, connect the hook of the winch cable somewhere other than the bumper. Dont want to take any chances ripping it off. Doubt you would with 9000 pulling power, but it is a bad habbit none the less.

It's not on the bumper, it's on the winch mount, which is on the frame in 4 spots...but yeah, I know what you mean. I'm still working on some way to connect it back to the truck. Got any ideas?

Could you install a tow hook drilled through the frame in the front (and rear)? That would be ideal and the hooks are cheap.

There's not really a spot that I could mount one without it being in the way and getting nailed by rocks and stuff.

Maybe I should just ditch the current stuff and get an ARB lol

What about the holes on our ARBs? Are these safe to loop the hook back to?

No.. the holes in the ARB are actually for hilift lifting points.. not for winching. They will work for light duty pulling, but nothing serious.

I wonder if they could be beefed up. How about a 1/4" strap on each side that is bent along a few inches of the ARB and welded to it? I just like the convenience of the holes.

yep, you could probably do that.. some 1/4" thick plate/strap would definitely help.

never buy those cheap tow hooks go to the junk yard and get some off a big chevy or a bus you dont want a 3-5 pound bullet flying off your truck (its not the way to make friends)

Yeah, be careful where you pull from, I've seen two of those holes on ARBs tear.
