I like mine and suggest you install them yourself. I never heard of any stories about breaking engine mounts. Besides, it's easy to make some strong mounting brackets if yours fail. Just get them, you'll be glad you did.

Motor mounts breaking has nothing to do with the gears. I've seen several Xterra mounts break, none of which were on a Calmini gear equipped truck.
They're awesome. They greatly improve the ability to crawl over obstacles. If you're reasonably mechanically inclined, you can do this yourself, though getting the Tcase in and out is a pretty big job. If you have someone do the install along with the disassebly/reassembly of the truck, better sock away around $500 or so for labor. 1998 Frontier 4x4, 2002 Xterra 4x4, 1983 280ZXT, and a ratty old Sentra Remember, Grow the Nissan Community and stand up for ORV user rights! Thank you for all of the replies so far, I appreciate it!!! It's good to hear that most of the broken motor mounts happened to non-Calmini Gear equipped vehicles!!!
Check this out...My buddy Lee,who owns Racerzedge Motorsports, got me the Calmini T-Case Gears, a $50 Air/Fuel Ratio meter, & a $50 Voltmeter for $1100.00 How cool is that?!?!?!?? It's actually a Xmas gift from my AWESOME wife, Alison! ONE Huge, Mean, Rockcrawling, Mudslingin' 2001 Frontier Crew Cab SE-V6. I have only been on two runs with the gears but here is my input:
Great for crawling, especially if you have a manual tranny. If you are not into crawling over rocks you may not want them. Once installed there is no middle ground (range). It's a PIA to be all the way to 5th gear in low and then have to stop and shift to 4high to get some more speed, only to stop and shift back into low at the next obsticle. Don't get me wrong, I love the low ratio but there are tradeoffs. I did the install myself (my wife helped with the jack) without the use of a press or bearing splitter. Get with someone that has already done it for additional tips, the instructions that come with the gears need to be rewritten. |

ill do the install for you if you want...but getting the tcase up to me might be a pain. unless you find a spare and i install on that one and you just bolt it in

The t-case gears have nothing to do with motor mounts breaking. It isn't just the Xterras that will break them either. Herk's SC Frontier broke one last weekend. I think with the engine mods you have, you might look into a beefier solution as well. I think it is a matter of time before you break one.

When I did my engine swap, I found out that one of my motor mounts was broken, and one was on it's way out the door. It took my fingers to pull it apart.

Thanx for all the replies guys....I appreciate it!!! I haven't had a chance to look at MY motor mounts yet, but I imagine I can get my buddy to weld in some triangles of steel (Gussets) of some sort to beef it up a little!! Just so you know, I really appreciate the welcomed installs, but my buddy, Lee, knows of a guy that does JUST T-Cases....so I'll feel really good knowing that he knows exactly what he's doing....AND he doesn't even charge that much. (maybe $200) So...I'm getting the clutch and T-Case gears installed at the same time. (Dual Friction Clutch should be here today!!!) Thanx again guys...Later....

It's the torque mutiplication caused by the steeper gears, that breaks our crappy motor mounts. If yu do any hill climbing w/a stock Nissan, you can rip the driver's side mount in half! All Nissan trucks/SUVs seriously need a tranny and engine mount upgrade (I'm, working on one, and I'll be using a Jeep poly tranny mount in conjuction, just haven't done it yet
