Does a pre order mean you are plunking down some bennies? Or is it just a promise to buy something?

I placed my pre-order today. I did not ask how many have been ordered so far, but I did tell them they could just give me the unit off the SAS Hardbody. heheheheh So come on guys, pony up some of that x-mas money and place your order. I'm wanting it by summer.

A Pre-order is just that. No money is needed to place it. Just a phone call saying "Hey, I heard you're taking orders for a new product (SYE in this case), and want my name on the list for the first shipment available!". It will take a few months (always does) once they have a few names, but they more names they have the sooner they ship!

I talked to Steve last week and expressed interest. I didn't put in a pre-order per se, but I'll take one when it becomes available.

Has anyone else expressed some serious interest? I NEED this for both my IFS project, and my future buggy project (I'll be using an '89 extended cab frame and cab, Waggy D44 front, Nissan H233B rear, 305 fuel injected, TH350 tranny, Nissan X--feer case w/SYE and TH350 adapter w/crawler gears, and lots of tube! Suspension will be 3 link rear w/quater elpiptic leafs, and 4 link front w/coils or coil-overs).

I e-mailed Steve yesterday, but have gotten no reply. All these whiners want parts, and when someone says they can and are willing to build, all of a sudden they clam up. I wish those whiners would just go buy a yota and shut up instead of crying they want when they know damn well they can not afford. Champagne taiste on a beer budget. Get real guys!!!

If you disturb this thread again, it will make the gods very mad. Watching this post everyday like I do, is like waiting for water to boil, it can't come soon enough for me.

TF&J your wheelbase is long enough that you don't really need the SYE. I have a one piece rear driveline that I had built about eight years ago and they reused my stock u-joints. They are still in there and I bought the truck brand new in 93, and for over 2.5 years it has ben straight axled with about 10"s of suspension lift over stock. Now I am running 38.5/11.00 boggers until I get some 37" MTR's.

I got the carrier bearing type of two piece shaft, can you tell me what was done for yours to eliminate that bearing? Probly just cut it off and weld up a new crossmember. Anyway, thanks.

Reasons why a SYE is needed:

1) Long travel suspension (stock height, or lifted)

2) Strength

3) Safer driveshaft changes on the trail (if/when u bend one on teh rocks, you can actually remove the driveshaft and limp home in front wheel drive)

4) running a large 6-cyl or V-8 w/stock X-fer case

5) anyone w/extreme driveshaft angles

Who doesn't need it:

1) stock vehicles

2) mild wheelers, that NEVER see any terrain even remotely close to gnarly (i.e. no chance at all of bending/breaking driveshaft/U-joints).

Now those of us who still have the 2 piece shaft could actually just remove the rear half of the shaft and limp home....assuming the rear half is what breaks.

I just unbolted the carrier bearing and took a die grinder to the mounts so the crossmember is nice and clean. The driveline uses the factory flange at the rearend and the slip at the other end, it is just one long tube instead of the 2 piece junk. You can take your driveline to a driveline shop and have them build the new tube with the ends on it and then press your u-joints with the flange and the slip yolk off your old one and reuse them so you don't have to buy parts you already have. Mine cost like $130.00.

La,De,Da,Dee,Da,Mmmm,MmmMM,MmMMMm. What's the holdup? no, seriously, what'd the SYE status? I need to call Calmini again and see where they're at, just to quench my curiosity. BTW, as w/any future project, my '89 truggy beast keeps morphing drivelines! I'm sure it will continue to do until I actually purchase the parts! Anyway, can't wait for the SYE for my '93 though!
