Here are some spy shots of the prototype. What do you think? I ordered some 2" dies, and I'm going to see what the center hoop looks like in 2" vs the 1.75" you see in the pics.

Center hoop only, considering this as an option. I think this way it needs the 2" tube.

Nice!

What do you expect total weight to be once done and how does it tie into the frame? Am hoping for a lighter alternative to what's out there now myself.

Pretty sweet though,I agree, the 2" will look a lot better.

Are those two cutouts in the front for a high lift? If so, that has got to be one of the most functional bumpers I've seen. Winch mount, two places for shackles/ tow points, and if those are right for a high lift to slide into smiley4

Are bumpers for the other Nissan models also in the works (or at least a thought?). I'd love to get a beefy winch bumper for my truck.

Yeah, highlift fits perfect. Also for your hand to get at the winch clutch lever, or air for the radiator.

Well the final design is now DONE and off to the powder coater so look for pics soon. The center tube is thicker and the size/shape has been tweaked a little.

Some cool factoids. Will work with either an integrated or non integrated winch and will still look great w/o a winch. If you have a non integrated winch (a Warn one anyway) you will not need to have that big solenoid box visible. There will also be a remote in cab winch controller kit available for ~$30.

D-RAT, It should weight about 100lbs. With just the bumper on, I can't tell any difference in the way it sits or drives.

There really isn't any way to make it considerably lighter w/o going to exotic materials, making it weak, or physically much smaller. IMHO, you have to cut the weigh in half for it to be truly meaningful considering the front half of an X probably weighs 2-3000lbs.

It bolts two the three threaded holes on the frame ends. You can kinda see the three bolt heads shining in the pic above.

Gotcha. sounds great. Am looking forward to the pics!

Would like to see a DOM tube aftermarket bumper - something like mine only with a little more protection at the outer ends for the washer tank, etc. Not sure how it would sell tho. Keeps it light for the guys who aren't wanting to have a winch bumper, but can hold up to Hilift usage.

50lbs for a non-winch tube bumper is probably doable. I'll keep it in mind.

I'm aiming for around $550-$600 still dont have all the costs yet though.
