SYE= Slip yoke eliminater
Why do you want it? So you can remove the rear driveshaft after you have mangled it, without losing fluid from your T-case. Also to get rid of that problemsome carrier bearing.

an1malch1n, Don't make me hit you over the head with my leftover centerlink!!! hehehe I'll tell you what, if you want to buy the 1st one, you may do so. Just make sure it is sent to me!! heheh

The yoke on the back of the transfer case is designed to move in and out hence the term slip yoke. This lets the driveshaft change length as the suspension flexes.

The problem is that as lifts get higher the U-joints will operate at greater angles and eventually cause vibrations. One way to cure this is to make the driveshaft longer. For the 3-3.5" lifts we can do with IFS this isn't a problem, but could be with a SOA rear end and 6-8" of lift.

To make room the slip yoke is removed and a fixed yoke mounted in it's place. This can gain you several inches for the driveshaft. But now you need a new driveshaft that has a slip joint built into it. The propeller shaft in the front of our trucks is an example of that kind of driveshaft.

If a new longer driveshaft isn't enough, you can go to a driveshaft with a double cardan joint at the transfer case. In that case the pinion needs to be rotated so that the pinion is pointed at the transfer case yoke instead of parrallel to the yoke.

Thanks Steve for coming on and clearing the air. You'll get used to this crazy board yet! Smile

An additional note on the lower ball joints - we just need to get one out of the A-arm and go find one that matches. It's ridiculous that Nissan makes you buy an entire LCA just to get a new ball joint. The best price I've found on an LCA is about $145. Ball joints should be like $20.

Dang.. this thread made my day.. GREAT to hear this info Steve!!!! An SYE would be really nice for those of us contemplating wild rear suspensions when we go solid axle.

For now I'm happy with the IFS on my Pathy, but in a year or so, I'll be in the market to do an SAS. I'll be looking at your kit for sure.

One item I would like to see someday.. and I dont know how feasable it would be.. would be a T case adapter to bolt up a second (passenger side drop) T case in addition to the SAS kit. This would allow the use of any passenger side drop axle and would lengthen the front driveshaft enough to help out with the pinion angle. The only question would be what secondary T-case would work best for this application.. Something like a GM NP205 would be sweet.. and indestructable. Could even run the calmini crawler gears in the stock case and retain the ~2:1 of an NP205 for times when you dont need to crawl but need 4wd. The option of selectable FWD, 4WD, or RWD with a twinsticked 205 would really raise the cool-factor as well.

With a little ingenuity, the stock T-case driver's side output could then be used as a PTO. Big Grin Thus paving the way towards the creation of a 150hp PTO-driven ultimate margarita machine.

150HP PTO Margarita machine!!!! YES! The ultimate offroad accessory!

I would be more inclined to use a Yota case. They're widely available and much smaller and lighter than an NP205. Also, there are numerous gearing options availalbe for them.

uuhhh, you can already do that. OTT makes them, but if Calmini made one, I wouldn't object.

BTW, I think it was Mikey that found em'.

You know I have heard that, and heard that, but have never seen a part number. I have even emailed the guys twice and they say they don't make them.

Yeah, the toy case would probably be a better idea for dual t-case. Lots of gear options and they are pretty much readily available.

Huh, I saw a guy on one of these million threads, think it was NOR, that had one. Looked like he was one of the first ones to buy one.

I'll see if I can find the thread, but they advertise that they make em' for a Nissan.

Thanx for the posts Steve. I just always see the glass as half empty (hence the guess dates I wrote) as opposed to half full. I'm gettin' a little impatient on the steering to ship ( My truck is on jack-stands right now), as I already have an appointment made for my custom bed and Roll Bar installation (I need to be able to drive it by mid-June!). Anyway, I know you're doing what you can, and great work on the gears! I'm buying my X-fer case gears hopefully next year, along w/the SYE. I'll also be purchasing parts of your SAS kit as well as soon as $$ allows.
