wondering if anyone knows what brand air compressor is for sale on the 4x4parts website? it sounds pretty nice. a good arb replacement.
http://www.4x4parts.com/public_html/shop/index.php3?page=shop/flypage&product_id=672&ps_session=8b88ac1418bd8b8c5bba3f05bd9330bc It seemed AC didn't want to tell me. I don't think they want people knowing so that they might buy it elsewhere. I just want to get more info on it and try to find it cheaper, maybe. thanks. ---------------------------- a 2wd mommy mobile right now |

I believe that is the ExtremeAire compressor. Mike mentioned he was going to carry it while in California. This would be my first choice for a compressor... its one of the most powerful units on the market and very reasonably priced.
THe only down side is that it pulls a LOT of current, so you might want to run a dual battery system if you can. Eventually, I hope to pick one of these up too. --------------------------- "I'm just a bill... on Capitol Hill.." |

What is he charging? I plan on running a Powertank. I just can't justify NOT buying one and buying an electric compressor instead. Sure, you gotta refill it, but that's hella cheap. Plus, they last FOREVER! I'm stuck between the PT-10 and the PT-15. The 10 is 340 I think, and the 15 is 360. I can't wait until I can afford that!

I think hes charging aroudn $359. Thats about the cheapest that I've seen anywhere.
I just dont like the idea of carrying a 2000psi+ tank in the AZ heat. I've seen what happens when similarly pressurized Nitrous bottles blow apart.. its scary stuff. --------------------------- "I'm just a bill... on Capitol Hill.." |

This is the reason I dont want to keep a high pressure bottle in/on my truck:
This was from an overheated nitrous bottle, and used to be a Nissan Maxima: Whats left of the car: shrapnel from the car embedded in garage door: whats left of the bottle: That just scares me with the kind of heat that we see here in AZ --------------------------- "I'm just a bill... on Capitol Hill.." |

thanks datz, and yeah that would take a ton of current. think an optima yellow top would handle it? i was thinking of running a powertank in addition to it for tools and such. i like the idea of the copmpressor for tires and lockers, but i don't want the weak arb unit. and that is a monster of a compressor for only $350. might not even need a tank.

You gotta remember, that's NOS. Not CO2. I've NEVER heard of a CO2 tank exploding under too much heat. Plus, since the Pathy is a bit of an "Open-air" model, it would be inside in a controlled temperature when not on a run. Plus, when on a run, I'd have it shaded, so I wouldn't be too worried about it.

they are still very similar. N2O is not flammable, nor is it a fuel... but under the right circumstances, the oxygen can be extracted to help support combustion of A fuel in a closed system (without addition of more air). CO2 isnt flammable at all.
Both are stored in the same manner though.. very high pressure tanks. The PT-10 CO2 tank runs between 900-1800psi. N2O "NOS" tanks run from 850psi-1500psi working pressures. More than likely, you wont have any problems at all with it.. this is just my opinion. I just dont like having those kinda pressures in an onboard tank.. kinda scary. --------------------------- "I'm just a bill... on Capitol Hill.." |

And power them for A LONG TIME to boot! I'm thinking of going with the PT15 because I can run the air bubbles through the hot tub in the back of the Pathy for longer...
