You know I read an article ont he ford truck enthusist site about making an air compressor using an old air conditioning compressor. I just checked the site to get a link but the message boards are down. If anyone is interested its at www.ford-truck.com you can do a search in there message boards, I think it was posted in the last month or so.

This is a link the competition does not want you to see..... http://www.truckn-store.com/product_list.asp?id=1054

That is where you can get the "same" compressor for $150 less! Thanks to Gordon, I am going to order one of these too.

Not that I will be using it to fill up tires after a day on the trail or running an impact with it but I am setting up a "York" compressor for my project 620. I got an old AC bracket from an L series Motor from ebay and a York compressor. These are engine driven bad boys that will give you all the air you need and then some. I know there are a number of outfits out there that make them for heeps and the like and sell them as kits. You may want to pick up a streettruck magazine or minitruckin they are full of compressors for us of the lowered pursuaision (sp?). AIM usually has cheap prices on stuff and are OK to deal with if you know exactly what your looking for. Remember to get a good air filter, water trap and oiler to go with it.

Since installing my Viair electric compressor and 2.5 gallon tank, I've been extremely happy with it. I don't have to worry about this tank blowing up Datz. It's fitted with a 175PSI popoff valve as well as an in-line safety valve in the plumbing. Smile Granted, my tank sits in the pocket between the exhaust system and the gas tank above the drive shaft, I haven't had any problems with it yet.

Cheers,
JD

Very nice! Yeah, I need some sort of air setup as well.. but I'm still wary of the high pressure CO2 tanks. Stuff gets thrown all over inside my truck when wheeling. I like the idea of a normal compressor.
