Congratulations on your purchase to those of you who are finally receiving the Calmini steering system. I hope the wait has been worth it - pictures that Chris posted of the Idler setup in particular are impressive!

My SLR setup continues to perform and hold up well. I anticipate the Calmini setup will also hold up well. If both were on the market when I bought my setup, I can't honestly say which I'd choose, as both appear to be good solutions, despite taking radically different approaches at solving the problem.

Now the big question to Calmini and SLR - who will be the first to market with a D21 setup? Those guys have been using up stock CL's too.

Setups like this greatly enhance the durability of the Nissan IFS and might be just enough for some folks to put off SAS's.

Calmini and SLR, please feel free to reply. The SLR comment on the XOC board about the Calmini setup causing wear to ball joints has me scratching my head in need of an explanation. Since I can't post there, I wonder if we could clear that up. I don't see how that can cause accelerated ball joint wear. Anyone have thoughts on that?

That doesnt make sense that the ball joints would wear faster. Larger tires would make them wear faster. You shouldnt be putting any more strees on them then there already is. The new steering systems are just replacing weak componets.

When you beef up most of your steering but not all of it, the weak points will change(idler arm...)

That being said, what the heck are they talking about ball joints for? big grin

Andy, (W)D21s have been bending stuff longer than (W)D22s muhahahhahaa razz

Hehe.. I'm just counting the days until i can pick up new tires and T-bars (and an alignment) for the Pathy!

The only way the balljoints would be having problems is if you crank the suspension up to the point where the balljoints are operating at their limits.. Other than that, there may also be a little more wear with larger tires.. but wear with one steering system vs another? That makes no sense at all.

The ball joint comments were directed at the big tie rod ends used for the new CL. I don't understand that at all. There is no way for them to move the way he said. The way the are implemented seems to be in the parts normal operating range.

I wonder how hard it would be to adapt the D22 system to a D21? What are the differences?? And if Calmini does have one done for us D21 guys I hope it's before the Nissan Net Run at least. smiley22

Isn't it just the tapers and the tierods? If so you would think they would be able to release it farely soon, since every thing else would be just about the same on both systems.

I think a D21 CL is a bit shorter.

If it is much shorter it sure won't work. The rod ends are adjusted almost all the way in on mine.
