I've seen one that looks just like the middle of the road viair at harbor freight for about $80. I intend to get that one and give it a whirl.

Checker Auto used to have them for $25.. they still may. I bought two of them for that price. They are decent for airing up tires, but it still takes several minutes per tire (33x12.5) on my truck. Mine is the same as the one pictured.

Eyes At 25$, that's a steal. At 60$ it's a great deal.

Chris, the compressor is 11"l x7"h x 3.5"w

I bought 2 of em in CTWD for $25 each. Like Datz said, they're a little slow for big tires but I run one in the front and one in the back and get aired back up pretty quick.

The supplied air hose/nozzle seems quite restrictive, as does the flimsy intake filter.

I'm planning to use a small pleated ,PCV/EGR type ,breather filter for the intake, plumb both compressors w/ check valves ( GRainger p/n 6D914)

feeding into a common water separator/filter before going into the tank circuit.

I finally have figured out a simple , secure mounting, that takes just one 5/16" allen head bolt to hold the compressor:

One mounting flange is captured in a slot. The other is held down by a pivoting hold down "strap" secured by the (1)bolt mentioned.

BOth the "slot" and the "strap" are welded to a base plate that will be "glued" down to the actual shelf the compressor will be mounted to (in the bed). At first i was thinking a thick bed of polyurethane, but then changed to using a butyl rubber type sealant that should be more flexible. The goal here is to try and mimic the function of the rubber feeet the compressor comes with( now removed).

I suppose I could have hardmounted it, but a little vibe suppression can't hurt.

like Bill said above theres a guy selling them on ebay - 4 for $250

I was really shocked at the test on the website - made me rethink it.

On a side note, does anyone know the ARB compressor's tire filling capacity/rate?

That is more than double the cost some folks have mentioned. The arb compressor I had was terrible at filling tires if that helps any.
