That is funny, I just copied the link and was getting ready to post it. Too bad we only ran one trail together. He got 5 or 6 good shots of my truck. The only good ones I've seen of my truck on Tipover challange.

I'm sorry to be the only one to bring this up, and who would fault someone for being an entrepreneur, but I don't recall anyone saying they were going to sell pics of my truck on the web. I think pics should be free.

Rondo, good point.....but that is one of the ways he makes a living. I too think they should be free, but I can't fault a guy for wanting to make ends meet.

The camera equipment was not free the last time I checked nor was the education on how to be a photographer.

Al takes quality photos. Being a professional photographer myself I think Al should be paid for his work. If I was going to go through the trouble of sending a print or allowing usage of a high res image that I took you better believe that I will seek compensation.

People that believe that photographs should be free should pic up a camera and try to take some pics themself. It is not as easy as it looks to get good images. And good camera equipment is not cheap.

Happy Trails

My pics will be up today sometime. They're not A1 quality like what you guys do, but they're all taken on a cheap $100 do-everything-for-you Canon 35mm.

Anyways, stay tuned.

Carlton,
you're missing the point. Camera isn't free, training isn't free, guys want to make a living. No problem. But how hard is it to say, "bro, can i use pics of your truck on my website cause i'm going to sell pics and i think your truck is cool. i have kids to put through college..." whatever. All a guy has to do is ask. If someone took pics of your face and sold them on the net without your permission, would it bother you or not? now you got it.
Why do you think famous people get so pissed off at photographers? 'cause they snap away and at them and use their pics without asking.
I'm not saying that i'm all ticked off or anything. 'cause i'm certainly not. In fact i'm flattered, but it would have been nice to have been asked.

I don't think I am missing the point at all.

Think about this for a moment.. Do you really think that Joe Blow on the internet is going to buy pics of some guys truck that he does not know or could care less about?

About the only person who is going to buy a picture of your truck is you.

That would be like a person buying pics of some other kid playing soccer (rather than buying the pics of his own kid)

As for the famous person comment.. You are not famous and I don't think the National Inquirer or anyone for that matter will pay cash to get pics of you or your truck. Smile

At amusement parks when you get on roller coaster, they sometimes have a camera set up to take your picture just as you are fearing for your life. Then at the end of the ride, they have it available for you to purchase. I don't think they asked for you permission either. (unless its written on the back of your ticket in really really small print)

I know how difficult photography is.. and getting good pics is a very hard thing to do.

But, since it is a side hobby for me, I'm *always* willing to make decent sized and decent quality images available to the subjects of my photos. Especially when it is a club gathering or group of friends. So, I make the images available to them. That way they can put it on their desktop at work, or use it however they want.. it doesnt bother me and it flatters me when people enjoy my photos. Someday I may start selling framed prints of my best photos, but until then, I'm happy to share them with anyone that likes them.. That's what I shoot for.. I will not charge my friends and aquaintences for pics of their own trucks unless they want to pay me. In fact, I've been printing up a number of photos to give away as gifts.

I am currently working on putting together an online archive of *every* trail photo I've ever taken...

Carlton,
i bet you're one of these guys who shoves a camera in some famous person's face, and then wonders why they get all pissy. What ever happened to 'common courtesy'?

The point isn't 'who's going to buy it'.
The point isn't , 'camera crap ain't free', and it takes training to take pictures.
The point is, 'common courtesy. I mean, you weren't being a jerk when me and Phil helped fix that hose on your X. You were a perfect gentlemen. Just like i would have been if something broke on mine and you were helping me. that's my point.
and yeah i'm not famous Razz
