goneMOAB will be Monday May 30th - Friday June 3rd.

We are working on securing a portion of Portal RV park so that ALL can stay at the same place. We are also working with vendors to have stuff to give out. There will be T-shirts (and I am working on stickers)

More info will be given as it becomes available.

Cool. Very glad it is later this year. I can't take off work before May but I can probably make this. Time to start planning/saving.

BUT if you let someone borrow your junk, wifey or girlfriend or mom or dad, and they don't know how to drive a rig with a locker, when they hit ice/snow they is so gonna crash that mofo! -Rondo

I'm thinking of doing a few days that I can just be "sick" for, but usually save my PTO for Moab or hiking in shouthern Utah.

we do local trails quite often so I just hate using valuable pto for local stuff.

I know I'm wierd.

Hey Carlton,
Im tring to get a small group together here in Calgary Canada, the CN4XC club, I want to come down and meet some of you guys and see the sites.

I read the site and have some aditional Q's.
(Sorry for the Nube questions)
Do many families come aswell?
What is the weather generaly like that time of year?
Does Moab have good auto parts stores?
Does Golden Spike really need a locker? Will a SAS rig with open diffs have problems?
Who is organizing?

Thanks,
John

We do have families come to these events. There is plenty of shopping and other sight seeing activities in the area so there is plenty for all to do.

What is the weather generaly like that time of year?
Warm plesant days and cooler nights

Does Moab have good auto parts stores?
Several

Does Golden Spike really need a locker? Will a SAS rig with open diffs have problems?
An open vehicle will be fine untill you get to Golden Crack. Even SAS will not save you there. Because of this we restrict it to either a locker or other traction enhancing devise. Otherwise it takes too long to try to get people across.

Who is organizing?
Myself and Doug. There will be differant trail leaders for the differant runs as well.

Thanks for the reply.
Sounds really exciting! Ive not had the pleasure of running sandstone or lots of rock before. We have alot of mud and snow and water traps up here, but no sandstone.
I'm really going to try and make this one.

Are you going to make this year D-rat?

Not sure...I'm putting most of my efforts in our 5th annual AZ run. To me, no other runs compare, but of course, I'm biased.

That said, it is beautiful country up there and the trails are a lot of fun.

Probably wont' know until the last minute if I'm going.

I agree Andy, nothing comepares to the AZ runs, but, nothing compares to Moab either, have you gone at least once yet? If not, you really need to go, Moab is just that killer.

Got a question about Golden Spike. An LSD doesn't qualify as a traction device, does it? What if I manage to get the Mexican LSD mod done by then, would it qualify then? If not, is there a bypass, or do I just not get to go without a locker?

I have the Calmini front LSD with the Nissan factory LSD in the back.

It made all the differance in the world (of course the Calmini front LSD is almost like a spool)

There are no bypasses on the crack. Do or die.

The reason we do not let open diff vehicles go is a time concern. It takes to long to help an open truck across it when you have a big group.
