I'm thinking Steel Bender would be cool at night climbing the ledges with those killer views up to 6k.

Near stock vehicles should be fine, while the optional climbs are nice for those up to the challenge.

We could meet/stage at the Spanish Trail Arena (Hwy 191 and Spanish Trail Road) outside of town ~ 7pm.

Suggestion, comments, or other appropriate trails for a night run are welcome. Porcupine Rim is also a possibility, its closer to town and should'nt take as long if people want to get to sleep before O'dark thirty Also thinking about camping adjacent to the trails at least one night.

Is the trail itinerary up? Where are the meeting places for each day's runs? It may be on the GONEMoab site, but I didn't see it...

Edited by DL - I showed Andy where all this is listed on the GoneMOAB site.

Yeah after considering everything and reading all the feedback/ mail I personally think that the best option is to:

Run the first 2.5 miles of Fins & Things then continue on to Porcupine Rim via Sand Flats Rd. Porcupine Rim is ~ 4.2 miles one way and a shortcut at 2.6 miles is available on the return that exits to Sand Flats Rd.

The whole run should take ~ 3 to 3.5 hours, which will get people, back at a reasonable hour and offer a couple of early exists for those wanting that? Fins will give drivers a bit of chance to ascend/descend those sometimes-steep slick rock sections while Porcupine Rim should features some incredible views with the near full moon if the cloud cover cooperates.

This way we're really not duplicating any of the other planned trails such as 3D that is going in the day or Steel Bender on Thursdays and this itinerary is suitable for all vehicles. Plus people can camp right next to the planned trails for tuesday such as Hell's Revenge & the rest of Fins.

So I propose we meet at 7pm on 4/14 at the entrance booth of the Sand Flats Recreation Area.

FRS Radio 4-14, CB Radio 14.

The full moon should provide plenty of light and some Cool picture & video opportunities. Hope to CYA Chug

I'm interested, I recently chucked my offroad lights (they were trashed) when I built the new bumper. Seeing as how the nissan headlights are about as dull as can be, it seems like it would be pretty dangerouse without aux lights of some sort. I'll see if I can get some tonight or tomorrow(it is all prewired form the old ones). If not, I'm not sure.
