Well, got over to Jimmy Smokestacks' place this morning, and did my rear LSD mod. That thing is TIGHT... almost like a spool.

Many thanks Jimmers!!!!

Also helped build a set of rocksliders for not-so-stocker joe.

No pics tho. Was waaay too busy to even think of it. Plus, I left my camera in Tucson Roll Eyes

Was it difficult? Did you have to reset the gears?

It was VERY easy to do. You have to completely remove the carrier, so you do have to adjust the backlash. Wink

Did you add a shim? What exactly did you do?
I know there is a How-To on adding an extra friction disc. Is that what you did?

I'm curious because I think mine could stand some firming-up.

Haha, no prob... They look awesome!!!

On a shitty note, I got almost home (the last couple miles), and I could not shift the truck at all with the motor running. Turn in it off, and it would go into all 5 forward gears, and reverse. Try to start it in gear, the truck launches forward, and the motor dies. Start it in neutral, and won't go into any gate.

I took my truck to the mechanic last week to have the throwout bearing replaced, and they seriously effed something up in the process. It is going in first thing tomorrow (he's picking it up), and it WILL BE FIXED CORRECTLY!!! I took that to a mechanic to ensure it was fixed right, and because I thought it was nicer to have my free time, (not pulling a trans). I am pissed.

man, that totally sucks! Hope he gets you on the road and working properly in good time!

I've been vehicle-less for like 2 weeks now due to the transmission swap and i'm iffy if the transmission i'm installing works.

Sounds like clutch hydraulics are wasted. That's no good that you payed to have it done and have to take it back because it isn't right... one more reason I always work on my own junk.

What did you guys end up doing on stocker-joe's sliders? Marchall called me and asked what we did to Matt's XJ.

X eleventy billion

Lucky, though, because the hydraulics are external and easy to fix.

Yeah, the plus side to this... it isn't my fault, and the work is warranteed, so it is all on them. I am just pissed that it happened, but thankful that it happened so close to home on a turnaround trip from Phx.

I honestly think they jacked something up with the clutch installation, as it was having a hard time getting into gear earlier in the week. I called and told him about it, and he said to bring it in when I could... so I am.

They did some really good diff work for me. I thought they were good... apparently not. Effers.

This was the last straw. The only reason why it is going back to him, is because it is all warrantee work, and I am making him pay for his shitty service.

From now on, it is all on my own, or with some friends' help. This is bullshit.
