Found this from michiganjeepers.com:

Early bronco Dana 44 are stock 58" WMS-WMS.

Using mid 70s Chevy K5 flat top D44 outers on the Bronco D44 widens the WMS-WMS track to 60.5"... and you end up with much heavier duty knuckles.

Just some more information to add. Ford measures .22" less per side from the knuckle out when compared to GM or Jeep 6 lug set ups. What this means is if you get a Ford axle and switch the knuckles and hubs out to GM stuff you will make it .44", or almost a 1/2 inch, wider. That may not seem like a lot but ask your wives what kind of difference 1/2 an inch will make smiley46 I got the info off the Warn web site.

You will need a 1971.5-1977 EB d44 front axle. 1972-1976.5 d44 Chevy outers from a k5 blazer or a k10. All k5, and k10's had disc brakes which can be used to convert the EB front axle. Here is a link for identification of dana and GM axles. axle identification

I'd thought I'd clarify some information.

quote:
International
Scout 80 (R) Dana 44 60"

Two problems with the listing, Scout 80's didn't have Dana 44's and in 1980 they never made a "Scout". They did make a "Scout II" though. <grin>

Scout 80's from 1961 to 1964 had spicer 27's front and rear.

Scout 800's from 1965 to mid 1967 have Spicer 27's in the front and rear.

Scout 800's from mid 1967 to 1969 have Dana 44's in the rear, and Spicer 27's in the front.

Scout 800A's from mid 1969 to mid 1971 have Dana 44's in the rear, and Spicer 27's in the front.

Scout 800B's from 1971 have Dana 44's in the rear, and Spicer 27's in the front.

Scout II's (820's) from 1971 to mid 1974 came with with Dana 44's in the rear and Dana 30's in the front. (most fronts were drum brakes)

Scout II's (820's) from mid 1974 to 1980 came with with Dana 44's front and rear. (most fronts were disc brake)

800's were 2 peice axles
Dana 44 Tapered Wheel mount surface (WMS) to WMS = 54.75"
Dana 44 Flanged Wheel mount surface (WMS) to WMS = 56.75"

Scout II fronts
71-73 Front Dana 30 Drum brakes, 0º caster
74 Dana 30 w/Disc Brakes, 0º Caster
74 Dana 44 w/Disc Brakes, 0º Caster
75-79 Front Dana 44 w/Disc Brakes, 0º Caster
80 Front Dana 44 w/ Disc Brakes, 2-3º Caster

Wheel mount surface (WMS) to WMS = 60.25”

Passenger side drop

The Scout II 44 housing measures about 50.25 from center of top ball joint hole to center of top ball joint hole. The outer assemblies (knuckle, spindle, hub, and rotor) measure about 5” each side

Spring pads measure 32.25” between spring pins

Scout II rears
All should be Dana 44’s
There are two sizes of drum brakes available
Later Dana 44’s did not use an inner axle seal and used gear oil for lubricating the axle bearings.

Wheel mount surface (WMS) to WMS = 58.5”, semi-floater

Terra, and Traveller, are all just 18" extended wheelbase Scout II's.

Travelall axles (D44 or 60-2) are not the same as Scout II, they are 63.5" WMS.

The 96-02 Toyota 4Runner alxes are actually 60.5"

The 96-00 some will have factory e-lockers.

01-02 avoid as they are lame and have all this computer crap that does not work anyway.

03-06 has computer crap that works and disc brakes. but is 65"

All Toyota 4Runners and all have 4 links plus lateral bar.

Thanks for the Isuzu info.

I have a Ford high pinion Dana 44 under mine. I can't remeber if it is 65" or 66". The thing is it has GM outers and they are supposed a bit wider than the Ford outers. I had a waggy 44 under my truck but I like the Ford version a hundred times better.

Chevy DRW D70HD is 73" WMS-WMS and has 4" tubes. Lockers include detroit, ARB, EZ-locker. Gears seem to follow the same range as your normal 70 but gears are not interchangeable.

Note that a D703HD is an oddball axle, with oddball gears the 70HD gears nor the D70 gears will fit. The carriers are also unique.
