I'd still be driving mine.. If the POS Nissan tranny could last more than a hundred thousand miles. My dad's Toyota auto tranny has gone 200k+ in the past 5 years, and it still shifts as nice as the day he bought it. Mad

Message to Nissan R&D: Start designing stuff with THE CUSTOMER in mind. Make stuff easy to fix, not so much electronic bullchit. There is so much electronic crap attached to the tranny I pulled out that I think I could strangle myself in it. Learn how to make a vehicle that is easily modified. Or a vehicle that is easy to pull the engine/tranny/tcase. A tranny tunnel that is bigger than my foot helps too.

I promise you your dad's car has more electrical crap than your Nissan tranny. That Camry wasn't turning 33" tires on Predator either.

Mike, your transmission did really well. 140,000 is awesome for an automatic. I'll be happy to get 100k out of mine.

Big Grin My friends and family know me TOO well. About 6 years ago I made the mistake of stating that I was just going to keep the brand new Pontiac Formula I just purchased, COMPLETELY stock... The laughter was deafening... Sure enough... Took it to Gateway International Raceway just to "see what it'll do"... 6 months later with biweekly trips to the track and I was driving around an 11 second vehicle under the factory warranty. Big Grin It's a sickness and it happens on every vehicle I've owned... Cars, trucks, murdercycles, & boats... I just can't leave them alone... Confused

Funny you should say that... Big Grin I just replaced the factory dash with and aluminum fabricated unit last weekend. Big Grin

Is the 4 runner still driven on the street? What would Johnny Law have to say about removing the dash board VIN plate? I was curious about that for Mikey's sake.

Nice Pontiac there. I like the term "murdercycle"....never heard that one before lol

Yeah, it's still driven on the street. After I finish working on it, I TERRORIZE my neighborhood... The neighbors who give me dirty looks get a special treat... I perform late night ramp tests on their landscaping rocks lol. No, not street driven. As far as the VIN goes for Mike, I'd say that he can just rerivet it on the new dash and let the fact that he has the title for that VIN speak for the legal aspects... Thanks for the compliments on my old Pride and Joy... Frown

The hood? Hmmmmmm... I think it'll hang in there... BUT, I AM toying with the idea of narrowing the front clip. Big Grin

Well, considering the vin number is in 3 other spots on the vehicle, I think I'm kinda alright... Sure, I'll weld it onto somewhere. Hey crash, can you help me with a dash for the Pathfinder? Did you put in a speedo? Or not? What guages do you have?

Yeah, I can help ya with that... .125 or .090 aluminum at Davis. Mine is kinda attached to the cowl and cage, but I'm sure we can come up with something. Hell, we can use that old cage I gave you to brace up the body a bit too. No speedo for me. Big Grin Gauges are all Autometer... Tach, water temp, oil pres, fuel lev, volts, trans temp, and two "Pro Lights" for oil pressure and tranny/water temp...

okay. i'm bidding on a set of guages for a military vehicle or something. I'll just paint it, and put it in. Smile I really don't care if it works anymore. Just so there is something to look like it works... Razz hehe

Crash, you ever rebuilt a 700r4? I'm thinking about going with a 700r4 to a Dana 300 because this fawker doesn't seem to want to sell me his tranny...

Mike.. just be careful what you bid on. Most military vehicles are 24v.. and even if they are 12v, its questionable whether you'll be able to get a sender to work with them if they are electrically operated.

If you can make them work, more power to you though.

Nope, never did a 700R4... He's right though... Most military stuff is/was 24-volt and if it's old enough... It could even be a positve ground system... I'd just throw a couple of bucks down and buy a plain set of aftermarket gauges if I were you... I think the 700r4 sounds like a good plan.
