Hey guys, Got the spring hangers welded yesterday.

Catch is calmini bolts are too small for my 89 waggy 7 leaf springs. Anyone run into this before?

For those with the calmini kit what year waggy springs are you running?

I don't have a problem. I can just drill the holes to match the waggy springs. I would like to know if anyone has run into this before.

Could I change out the waggy bushings with different model year to match the bolts I received in the kit?

Drill out the shackles to accept a 1/2 or 9/16" bolt - whatever fits snug in your spring eyes, and get a new set of Grade 8 bolts at the hardware store with nylock nuts.

What he said. There's no point making the bushing smaller to fit a smaller (weaker) bolt. Drill the tabs to fit a bigger (stronger) bolt.

This is what I'm going to do. I thought the calmini spring hangers were designed for waggy springs. I'm just wondering why calmini's hardware doesn't match up.

Regardless it's a good thing I'm upgrading to larger stronger bolts.

Are the bolts to short or too skinny?

I used 9/16 bolts. BUT I did have to shorten the rear spacers. Some people bought longer bolts. I thought both front and rear came with 9/16 bolts.

I haven’t measured the bolt yet for size. I think they are 1/2". They sure are too skinny for the springs.

The waggy spring eyes look like they take a 9/16 or 5/8 bolt shank size.

Tomorrow I'll measure the waggy bushings with a caliper to see what size bolt it takes. I’m just wondering why I have to drill the hangers for a larger bolt.

My waggys are all 9/16. I actually use 14mm bolts on my waggys. Toyota uses 14mm also on the rear.

Sounds like calmini accidentally drilled for 1/2". Just drill to 9.16and your good.

Shipping shackles with the smallest possible size is smart on their part. There is probably a set of waggy springs with 1/2" bushings. My Chevy stuff comes stock with 9/16 in some spots, and 7/16 in others, so every shackle you can find for a chevy is drilled to 7/16. It's easier than having multiple production models, or depending on the customer to know/measure what they need (and get it right!). Drilling a shackle set out is something I count on when I order a new set, or these days, make a set =)
