Since I will be getting my truck back tomorrow, it's time for me to start planning for the work that needs to be done to it before the AZ run. There's not much time between now and March 10th, so I will probably need help getting these things done in the next couple of weekends.

*Fabricating a new set of sliders. I don't have the tools or the know-how to do this. Greg said he would be able to help me, but I don't know if I'll have time to go all the way to Tucson and last I heard his welder isn't working properly.

*A friend of mine has a set of rear waggy leaves he's willing to give me. What do I need to do to these to make them fit my already existing set? Anyone want to help me install them? Also, will I need new U-bolts? If so, where to get them?

*Motor mount. This will have to be replaced too. I don't know if I'll have the extra cash for this before the run, but if I can get it replaced I would like to.

*Transmission fluid. I know that his has been covered a million time, but I can't find the info I need in search. How much fluid goes into a 5-speed? I know you have to overfill it, so how many quarts total would that be?

*Seafoam treatment. I really want to do this. Anyone willing to help with this also?

*Other small things: Break pads, MAF clean, fuel filter, etc.

Beverages and lunch will be provided for anyone who helps! Big Grin

Go order the motor mount, its $100 at AutoZone and they don't stock 'em. 5 speeds should use gear oil not transmission fluid, a gallon was too much if I remember right, GL-4 only. The hardest part about the SeaFoam is the oil change. Pads are cheap and easy, just open the bleeder before you push the pistons back or you could screw the ABS. The SeaFoam spray will do wonders for the MAF.

Slider fabrication is beyond me but I can help with most of the rest if you want to come down here. I have an alternator to replace myself not this weekend but the following one so if you get the truck back we can do a bunch of it this weekend. If you order the motor mount tomorrow morning you might have it Saturday but I doubt it. Somebody might have a spare they can front you (Marchall?) until you get one.

Why's the oil change hard? I know the oil is pretty nasty afterwards...

I don't know if I'll be able to get everything I need by this weekend, but it's a possibility. You think we could do your alternator and some of this stuff that I have to do in the same day? I'll help you with the alt. if you want.

Point was that the seafoam thing is easy. Napa carries GL-4 in gallon jugs.

I just double checked the calendar. I have to work the 1st and 2nd so I'll be doing my alternator after work during the week(s) sometime.

About the tranny. Only on the V6 hardbody's you have to overfill the fluid. I usually buy 4qts and use a little over 3 qts.

FYI- Rockauto.com is the cheapest place for aftermarket parts. I still check with the other companies for prices.

How bad is your engine mount? If it's in really rough shape I've got 2 OEM used mounts from my Pathfinder but I'm not sure if they'd be in any better shape than yours are in now.

If you need a replacement alt (kind of sounded like you already had one) I've got one of those too. Maybe I should just come set up a parts stand with all my spares at base camp.

I just double checked the FSM and it mentions 5.1 liters which equates to just under 6 quarts. Confused

It's been a while since I changed my tranny oil, I don’t remember how much oil I used.

It did however take me almost 10qts to change out the F/R axle and x-case. I did this around October.

-My motor mount is completely torn (did it at the LAST AZ Run lol), but its been tied down with a ratchet strap since then and has been fine. I don't even know if Pathfinder mounts will work on a Frontier. If they do, I'll see if I can get the driver-side one from you.

-I picked up 2 full packs of rear waggy leaf springs last night after work, for free, from a friend of mine Chug. So, what modifications do I need to do to these to make them work for my truck?

What FSM were you looking at? Is it possible that for some reason the Frontier 5-speed might take less?

I know the front waggy leafs measure 47 same as Toyota. The rear waggy springs are probably right on the money as for length.
