I'm thinking about ordering the Trail gear or similar crossover kit for my truck since I am using the Toyota Straight axle obviously. I was just curious as to whether or not there is any reason to not do this? The only problems I would imagine I would encounter would be with the final connection to the pitman arm with regard to taper and such. Not sure if anyone has expeirmented with this in a 720 or not but I figure for less than 300 bucks it doesn't seem bad. Since I have the rear end set up and ready to go basically I am only steering and brake lines away from being driveable. Anyhow, I would like to order a kit up by the first of the week so any input before I do would be awesome. Thanks guys!

The only problem you may have is drag link length and getting the pittman arm drilled to match. Somebody makes a weld in taperd insert for the fj80 tre's, then get a weld in bung for the drag link and cut to length. As far as the TG high steer though, I would shy away from them as a company. I have about 500 miles on my high steer and the tre's are already getting sloppy. Tg = Chinese (and if it says it is made in america, it is... With chinese steel and chinese specs) Allpro has an excellent kit with jap and usa parts for around $330, or you cant go wrong with marlin crawler

I thought I read somewhere that the Toyota and Nissan pitman arms are splined the same.

Like Mike said, I'd be concerned with draglink length and you could just drill out the pitman arm.

Thanks for the heads up on Trail gear. The AllPro kit seems pretty nice though they are at 359.00 now. I'm going to check the drag link length as best I can this week and also look into interchange of the Pitman arms. I really hate to weld on my Pitman arm as it seems like kind of a bad idea. I'll keep you posted with details. Thanks again.

I picked up a Toyota IFS box from my buddy and after comparing to my 720 box decided I am going to just convert to the Toyota box. They are very close and I think it can be done with very little work.I also measured the Toyota frame width at the gear box on both vehicles and they are both 25" center to center as I recall so the drag link should work out fine.

I'm now at the point where I need to decide which kit to go with. I'm thinking between the All Pro kit and the Marlin Crawler kit. The Marlin kit has CNC Billet Steel steering arms where as the All Pro kit has Chromoly arms. The marlin kit is only 35 bucks more. Is it worth the extra money to get the CNC arms? I am going to use the 4 bolt knuckles for now so with that in mind am I more likely to break the studs than the arms themselves? Just looking to get some input on which kit is best bang for the buck. Links are below... -Trent

Got the first half of my Marlin order today. The Knuckles are very awesome and well worth the extra money. It will be a couple weeks before I can begin the install but I'm glad I ordered it. I'll post up pics when I get to bolting... -Trent

They are, I put a trail gear high steer kit on the 720 I did. I ended up going to a Toyota box too anyways for power steering.
