Well, this morning I built some bad ass slider's for Silverfox's rig. The main bar and main supports (2) are made out of 2x3 rectangle tube, .188 wall. Each support has a brace made at a 45 degree angle. Also, each brace has another 45 degree brace on top which allows more surface area for the welds to the frame. I'm thinking about putting on another main support in between the two current supports.
Pics later tonight.

Scary! I'm planning on building some either this weekend or next. I think I'll may mine a cross between Robs, Johns and Jds. We'll see how the welding practice goes. Smile

Hey now, what makes him brave? You are the new loose screw of the bunch... lol I seem to remember someone with a loose idler arm nut wanting to replace the bushing, and then realizing that if that certain someone would have used a WRENCH instead of fingers, there wouldn't have been any problems... Roll Eyes crazy

I'm getting good with the welder. Andy, I'll bring them by later today. They are beefier than my old one FOR SURE! they almost put BeefyJames sliders to shame!

I dunno... I believe they are beefier than my old sliders.. They are only like 50-60 each. I can pick one up by myself, so they aren't incredibly heavy...

Now Mikey, it wasn't finger tight...it was torqued at about 15 lb-ft.

I won't be home tonight - gotta get the woman from the airport and get a bite to eat, but I should be around tomorrow.

Mikey, Don't listen to them. The sliders look great. Some of their previous comments about your welding had me a little concerned. After seeing the results, I am pleased.

When they grow up... They will all want to be just like Mikey. Right........

Signing off (immediately) and heading to California for the weekend.

sliders only need to be beefy enough to hold under impact. You don't want to add too much unnecessary weight. Same idea with a roll cage, although sliders wouldn't have much of an impact on the center of gravity like a cage would.

If you would have had a strong enough bumper you wouldn't have wrecked your junk. Sounds like someone underbuilt. Razz I would have built them out of .120 wall, but I actually dented my old sliders. I didn't want that to happen to Silverfox's.

Pics haven't been taken yet. If I can get a chance to check out his truck, I'll be sure to post some pics. I used 2x3 .188 wall on his, and together they are about 100 lbs.
