Just wondering if a xterra/frontier h233b pumpkin would swap into my 92 pathy h233b? if so that would be great!

92 pathy- 3 link front, long arm rear, front EB 44 with ox locker and full chromo shafts, rear with full carrier detroit. 4.88/4.9 gears front and back. Currently on 35's.

Unless you find an early '99 V6 Frontier, it won't work. After that the spline count changed, and the axles are wider, so to do it, you'd need custom axle shafts that are 33 spline inners, but about an inch shorter.

damn, whats the best way to get the 4.9's to work in my housing? i was thinking swap the center section but the spider gears would be 33 spline. what would happen if i got a lockright for 31 spline and used the later housing?

Use the 3rd from the Xterra. Swap the 4.90 ring gear onto your 31 spline carrier and throw it into the xterra 3rd. Adjust side gears. Swap back into your pathfinder and test.

I still have the 02 Xterra 3rd and 4.625 Pathfinder 3rd. I can get measurements if you'd like. The Xterra 3rd has the original LSD unit and the Pathfinder 3rd is open.

I have some old photos when I did my 4.90 R&P swap.

ditto on what Cuong Nguyen said.

The ring gear bolts should be the same size.

Here is the axle thread from the how-to section. http://nissan4wheelers.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/3766078435/m/88310151411

Why don't you find a cheap 33 spline axle you can put under the 92?

Because he'd then have to swap or make new spring and link mounts on the later model axle.

SO?

I picked up a 33 spline complete truck 4x4 axle with spring over mounts for $100, but I realize this is not a common thing especially if the ring gear bolts should work.

Once again: SO? The fact that one person has snapped a 31 spline axle, even though it might have totally been a fluke, makes love my 33 spline shafts.
