Dirt Road Driver
Posted
Well I locked in my Superwinch hubs today for the first time since doing the SAS. As I pulled forward I'm getting a clicking sound coming form the hubs. Unlock them and move forward nothing. Lock them back in and its there. I don't know whats causing it. The hub install is pretty straight forward. One thing I did notice at least on the drivers side, when I turn it to "Lock", it does not snap into place like it does going back to "Free". It does it when it's off the vehicle but not installed.

I looked at it again and there is only two grooves in the axle stub. One close to the end where I put the snap ring and one a farther back that gets covered up by the hub. Is there supposed to be a thrust washer or anything else behind the hub? I don't have anything between the hub and the spindle nut.

Any ideas?

Manual hubs on a dana 44 are easy to install. You've got a snap ring and a C-clip. If those are installed properly the hubs should work. There should be no kind of washer behind the locking hubs.

I learned the hard way between the warn regulars and premiums. First time out with my truck I busted the warn regulars.
