Awesome and creative use of an old dryer smiley4

If ya got a washer and use it on your truck, would be silly, but put the buttons for Wash, Rinse, Spin, etc. on your dashboards and make them do stuff. lol Roll Eyes

Enjoy the ride,
Ben

How cool would it be to make an entire rig outa washing machines! Get a cheap rig with a beat body, or no body, and make a Magic Chef monster. I can see it now, the truck that washes its self! smiley22

I have a 84 Datsun P/U with it's original bed liner. When I take off the liner for cleaning the bed is still in perfect condition.

My HB has no rust under it's factory liner.

I've herd of plastic bed liners rusting out beds but never seen it or experienced it with my own rigs.

We were checking out a v10 ford one day at a dealer, test drove it, everything. Dad was snooping around and said "HOly crap, we're not getting this one." The plastic bedliner was BRAND new...but there was nothing under it. Hmmmm. We find out a few days later they previous owner dropped an engine through his bed liner on the road and that's how he found out it was rusted. lol

If you clean out under them, they can be alright. Many do not, however. The dirt accumulates, clogs the drains.....

That's funny, BTW, Chevyman.

Think about this; with the extra room, I could recess the Hi-Lift into a pocket above the wheel well. Can you picture it? Instead of patching the inner wall, I could cut out a rectangle and set in a box and mounting pins.

you would have more room in the bed for work related stuff.

seems like a pretty decent idea to me res, as long as there was some bracing between the rectangle you put in and the bed wall so it doesn't work and crack from vibration. You might as well keep the bedspace free if you can.

That's a good point, CM. I had better radius the corners of the insert to prevent cracking. Maybe I can do the same on the other side for my shovel.

Once everything is done, patched and caulked, I will bedliner it. Should look trick. I can't wait to get going on it. Smile

The next phase begins:

Shorten the exhaust to make room for a water tank and full-size spare
Add a water tank
Inset the shovel and Hi-Lift
Lift the tire carrier
Lift the fuel tank
Tidy up the wiring
Repair the bed in a few places
Paint the front of the bed and Back of cab
Fix anything else that is easier to get to with the bed off.

I am off to a good start. Smile

Here is what I accomplished on Saturday:

Did a lot of cleaning.
Exhaust is done, but it got dark before I got pics. More tomorrow.
Spare tire lift is done.

A few before shots:

Exhaust: High-flow into glass pack. Only the high-flow is seen here, residing where the cat used to be. More pics to come.

After Tire Lift:
