The picture with the tire on back was taken before the ones with the tailgate.

The tire will end up being stored in the bed while in town. There are to many nut cases to watch out for. Losing that line of sight is not worth it for the daily around town stuff.

However, for trekking purposes, the tire will end up mounted back there. It will be a tire carrier that mounts to the hitch receiver.

The hinge is just like said... little tube inside a big tube. It will however not hold up a tire.

It all bolts up... no big deal. Just make sure you have VG33e head gaskets.

I ran the ribbed belt accessories. Thus using the 3.3L crank. If you want to use your V-belt stuff, just use your 3.0L crank and all is well.

yeh, chevyman_57's writup says if you use the 3.0 crank you have do use the 3.0 heads and cams because of how the cam gears match up. He had the snout of his 3.3 crank machined to match the 3.0 pullies so he could keep the more efficient 3.3 heads.
so far I've heard of atleast 3 ppl say it bolted right up and the swap wasn't too bad, so I'm growing in confidnce while I save $$$$ for it too. I'm planning on doing a stroker kit to it too!

Just use the correct oil pump, timing belt gears, and harmonic balancer, for whatever crank you choose.

The heads need to be from a rig made Feb 1987 and newer.

Here is something we have been working on <clicky> .

This HB needs to get back on the road just in case Gone Moab happens for me. Then the engine build linked will continue.

It would be awesome if you can incorporate some toolboxes/storage areas in the area above the rear tires. Just something shallow enough for a socket set, recovery gear, etc... maybe make the top open up, and use some weather stripping to keep mud/moisture out. Wink

Lookin way cool, man! Chug

A few guys have brought that up.. On this rig there isn't really enough time for it. However you may see it on Bill's truck (I think he comes here, Broncb2b)

Extra storage is always nice for sure!!!

Oh you will see a C02 tank sunk in the front part of one of those fenders...

No, you can still run the 3.3 heads with a 3.0 crank, you just have to put the 3.0 cam gears on and run the 60,000 mile belt.. I had the 3.3 crank machined so I could run all 3.3 cam gears and keep the 100,000 mile belt.
