Ive also found an electrical test light can be priceless on the trail. If you wheel with Jeeps a set of Torx stuff can come in handy too.

Keep you eye open at the Repo Depot (Home Depot) as I have got some super clearance deals on their Husky line from time to time..

One rule of thumb I have is... I only use my trail tools to make repiars to my truck, this way I know what tools I have & they are a good match. Also, I keep track of what I use from my house tools and up date my trail box from time to time...

BTW - I likes that Mac tools box.. that thing is sweet... do they tend to bouce loose at all?

"Ditto" on the roll up wrech kit... they're awsome...

Not sure how you guys feel about this tool set but I will tell you that unlike Craftman sets, they do not let your tools bounce around. The old Sears sets use to have molded plastic cases where tools were HELD in place, but they don't anymore so I bought this set for my truck and they are held in place regardless of the bumps on the trails. Not that thick either, but much more tools than are required.

I have a Crew Cab and Space is very limited, can't even begin to carry a tool BOX. Trying to figure out where to store everything is my problem. I have a truck box but only put that on when going on long trips (Moab, AZ Runs...), don't have it mounted for daily or weekend trips as I need the space in my bed.

I saw set of impact sockets at Wally World that held the sockets in place- open in the center, but closed off around the perimeter- for a little less than the price of just a magnetic socket holder from Sears.

Oh well.

Interesting fact, the husky tools at home depot are made by Mac. The rebuild kits interchange. I love my husky ratchets, the Mac stuff I have pictured is essentially the same as what you buy at home depot.

As for tools bouncing, they are in there pretty tight. However they stay in the tow rig along with all of the other stuff. The only thing I keep in the rig is a fire bottle and a tree saver. If I go somewhere where I will be a long ways from the tow rig I plan to just bag most of the tools.

I've got a Stanley set which doesn't let the tools bounce around. All sockets snap into the plastic molding. It's been my main socket set for a few years now. It's the 201pc stanley set sold at wally workd.

Last time I was in home depot the husky ratchets did not have the USA stamp. Looked just like the chinese ratchets I've got.

kobalt used to be made by a company owned by snap-on. Lows has changed their tool supplier, there not so top quality anymore.

One manufacture which get me is Gearwrench by KD tools. KD tools are made in USA however their premier toold brand is mande in tiwain. People pay $20-30+ for a non american made wrench.

Anyways, lets get back on topic.

Gator- do you have enough info yet?
