What type of axle are we talking about??

If it's an H233B/Ford 9" style where your remove the 3rd member, you can install that entire 3rd member into another axle without setting up the gears again. If you remove the gears from the 3rd member you will have to set the gears up for the new 3rd member.

If it's a dana style axle, you will have to set up the gears again when you move them to the new axle housing.

its our hybrid dana axles on 05+

basically im switching from the same exact housings , and what ill end up doin is just pulling the carrier out with the 3.69 gears on it and put it in the housing thats currently on my truck since both carriers have locker that way i dont have to pull the ring gears off and swap them

You'll still have to set up the gears. Every housing is machined slightly different so it's not too likely that you'd be able to move everything over without having to reset the gears.

I've had good luck at 4 Wheelers Supply on Washington in Phoenix. They seem cheaper than the east valley shops

That kind of work before a trail run is not a good idea, you'll want your truck g2g before a major run.

Do you have all the tools to set up gears? The tools required will run you over $300. If you got the tools and the FSM go for it, setting up gears is not hard.

If you've never don't a gear swap before or you do not have the tools send it in.

I have the tools, but I don't have time to do it until mid-august. I'm guessing you want it done quicker than that Smile
