I havent finished it yet, but I have some pics and helpful info for those about to do this, or people that want to know whats involved. If there is a mistake, please be kind and not hack the thread, there are no instructions and I have to piece it together as I go.

Part one, Remove the case.
Just getting some work done on the transfer cases, go the nissan pulled apart and now just need to move some gears across and install it. Not too bad as installs go. You need to remove the tail section first before you remove the second section of the TX, there are hidden bolts inside. When pulling them apart, you need to work around the case, or it will just bind up and not move.

Part 2 of ??

Well, there are alot of bits that need to come off the existing Case and put onto the new one. For the guys that are doing this, please have a look to save yourself alot of time and possibly wreaking the stuff you need.

So this is the half that had the shafts sticking out of it, look at upper before shot. You need to pull ALL the gears and bearings off of it, strip the case down to this.

This is what comes off and isnt used. Dont just hammer it or try a press to shortcut, every gear and bearing has a snap ring.

These are the gears from the reduction side, they are installed on the new shaft from NWF, including the snap rings, so dont wreak them.

This is the main bearing that holds the shaft in place, you need to pull everything out of the TX case and carfully remove this, hopefully its in good shape. It gets installed with another snap ring.
Altogether, its takes alot of time to pull this apart carefully, without damaging everything. You will need a few gear pullers and a bunch of flat screwdrivers, prybars, blocks of wood and some very good snap ring pliers. If you take your time and have the tools, you can do it in a couple of hours. Please look carefully at the photos, as there are lots of parts that come out in sequence.
Good luck, hope this helps.

Do yourself a favor...buy a set of retaining ring pliers.

They have flat blades where snap ring pliers have pins and will not work well.

I got mine apart with snap ring pliers...but I could not get it back together with them. So I spent the 20 bucks for the retaining ring pliers.

Something I should have done before I started.

In case you missed it my build is in this link...

I managed to get it all apart and together with snap ring pliers, it wasnt easy but it went. I turned them 90deg and used them that way, seemed to help.

For some reason I cant access Ronin's site, not a new thing. Somthing to do with my gateway. I can access it if I find a open wireless signal.
Is it posted anywhere else?

Im stuck on the shifters at the moment. I cut the TX shift rod short to fit in the adapter, got all the check balls in place, got the adapter and shaft in, but when I shifted it into 4wd, I heard a clink of the check ball. bouncing to the bottom. Lucky for me its just a test shift before I got the D300 in place, so its nott too bad. Any help would be great.

Thanks Bill, that cleared up alot. I saw the pic of it welded up. Question, what did you do with the little pin that is vertical between the two shift rails, I see you just tossed the old spring and ball, but did you take out the pin too?
Oh and you need yourself a photographer! That hurts the eyes! Big Grin

Pin? are you talking about the 4wd shift rail...about 8 inches long? If so it gets tossed.

If not it is still in there...I'll have to look when the seal shows up.

Oh yeah, I tossed that, well I tried cutting it first, then after your pics I tossed it.
But no, there is a keeper pin for the upper shift rail. It works like a ball stopper, and it goes between the two shift rails. I guess its for making sure that you are in 4wd before you go into 4low. Its just a tiny one, about 1.5 inches.

Well, that SOB is in. I only have one thing to say, that mofo is Heavy, when you have 4" of room and its sitting on your chest for 15mins while you wrestle it in place. I guess thats more then one thing.

Oh and if you are going to read only one thing, let this be it. PRE-FIT the clocking ring on the D300 BEFORE you bolt it all together and install it. Or you WILL be pulling it back off. It only fits in one direction.

6 of one, 1/2 dozen of the other. I didnt find it hard to do with it in the truck. But I could see it would be easier to do some things with it out, like setting it on the bearing. It would get heavier to lift the TX tcase and adapter at the same time.
