I was referring to the guys who tow their rigs. I like those tents posted in the link!

I live in Phoenix so I won't be trailering my rig, I'll be driving it the whole run.

The front and rear "bumper" areas of the trailer are 2x2 1/4" tubes, the sides are 2x2 1/8" and the bracing is all 1x1 14 gauge tube. The tongue is 2x3 1/4", all the sheeting is 14 gauge.

AZ run is not for trailer queens.

This looks cool. Think that stock you used on the tongue is beefy enough?

Looking forward to that getting around those tight corners between coves 5 and 6.

Freaky... I started my own search last night for an easy to set up tent and came across the Cabelas version of that (pretty sure it is a rebrand of the kamp rite product). I'm going to head down there after work and check it out - and probably buy one.

The Cabela's one is not as nice. Be warned, folded up these things are HUGE. They are the reason I put a roof rack on the trailer. I'm hoping I can fit them inside, but it is very likely they'll end up strapped to the top.

Bass Pro Shop carries the Kamp-Rite in their stores with the rain fly. Ordering straight from the Bass Pro website or getting them in-store is by far the cheapest way to get them (I did a lot of research). If you order directly from Kamp-Rite they charge rediculous shipping rates (would have been $175 to have the two tents and rain flys shipped from Nevada to AZ).

The Sportsman's Warehouse also carries them in store however they do not carry the rain fly.

It's something I had left over from the rear axle truss.

I'm going to take it on a test run through the coves on the 1st or 2nd. If I have trouble in tight spots I'll go around.

Why do you say the Cabelas one is not as nice?

It appears to be a beefed up version of the older style (no domed roof, steel support structure rather than aluminum, no included pad), and slightly smaller than the oversized new one... but otherwise it looks pretty similar to me.

I purchased two of the cabelas models back in december, they work great. Plenty of room inside and they had rain covers too as well as a small awning that extend over the main opening a bit to protect shoes and stuff from rain. I like it for the $. Two of them fit in the bed of my polaris ranger all folded up. They are about 5ft long by about 6in wide 6in tall when they are all folded up. I don't know about the Kamp-rite ones but the cabelas ones are awesome.

I'm pretty sure they're made by the same people... anyway - I'm heading down now to check out the Cabelas one... if i like it i'll nab it... if not, I'll either trek another 60 miles to the Bass Pro in San Antonio or wait 'till another day to try to see the one that they have. My "want new toy NOW" drive will likely win over any other logic Wink

It should be beefy enough.. he got the steel from me. Big Grin

Brent, you know, if it wont go around super tight corners, you could put a steer axle under it, driven by hydro rams. I think you have one of those sitting around. Wink

It's not a beefed up version, it's a heavier version. It's not any stronger than the aluminum one, it's only heavier. I also read a few complaints about the flat tops collecting rain. It's also missing the pad as you mentioned and I've heard that they aren't quite as easy to set up.

I got an oversized one for my son (merely for the domed top) and a double for Amber and I.

All of the 2x2 came from Datz, everything else came from Industrial Metal Supply. There's no room for a steering axle under the trailer. The tires are too close to the fenders. If I did do steering I'd use a linear actuator so I wouldn't have to run hydraulics back there though. torch
