Put a winch on the trailer so you can move it sideways when needed.

I can't see the hitch setup...is it going to be a pintle hitch?

Looking good! Like the way you secured the "combustibles" up front.
Just a thought, mainly because I've been thinking about the same kind of project using an old M-series trailer, but adventure trailers offers a neat looking poly water tank with a pump so you don't have to deal with jerry cans. Their's is super crazy expensive, but I'm sure there's a cheaper version out there. Might make a neat addition to the trailer. |

Yes it's a pintle hitch (until I fab a 3 axis setup, but that won't happen before the run). I'll have a come-along and the winch on my truck if needed. It should also be balanced fairly well so If I need to disconnect it to move it around I can always do that. But it's strong enough that I should be able to drag it through anything I need to. OHHHH, I too like the way the gas cans are up against the body. Pics of the inside? Hinges? latches? What are you going to paint it with?
Andy, it looked like a pintle hitch when I saw the trailer's ring. |

Here's a few more pictures from the beginning of the project. I started with the axle, I made it so it would be the same width as the K5 axles. Started by welding the spindles into a 2.5" 120 wall tube and installed the 8 lug hubs to match the truck.
Then I determined figured out what width I wanted the frame rails and Amber and Justin made some spring perches and spring plates (u-bolts were purchased at ORU). It's using 1250lb trailer springs (2500lb total) and 8 lug hubs with wheels and tires to match the K5 so I only have to take one spare. The hubs are total overkill (5200lb rating each I believe) but I wanted to make the lug pattern match my truck without using adapters. Brent 1972 K5 Blazer |
