I had reported earlier that I thought my bushings were shot, as I had some movement in the idler arm. Turns out the nut worked a little loose. I didn't tighten it a whole lot when I put the new idler arm shaft on, as I still wanted to be able to move the idler arm by hand. This time, I cranked it down some more, and while I can't move the arm by hand, the power steering has no trouble moving it. What initially appeared to be disintegrating brass was actually the powder coating coming off the idler arm brace where it contacts the bushings.

So it's back together and everything is tight.

That is good news. Glad there was not a problem.

Yeah, I checked mine out after reading your post. No problems.

BTW, did you use the Nissan torque spec's when installing it? SLR didn't have instructions so I had to dig up the settings from the ESM.

Mostly. I just have to throw the centerlink on to the idler and pitman, and align it in the morning. I may try to find some dirt tomorrow afternoon to test it in. If not, I will in SA next weekend for sure.
