I'm helping Gummy out with his rear axle. We're putting an ARB into his H233B axle along with 5.13:1 gears. He bought a carrier with the gears already set up in them and I have a few questions.

I checked the backlash before I pulled the carrier out, it was .002". That seems too tight to me, but I can't find a proper backlash spec online for the H233B. Does anyone know what it's supposed to be? Is .002 within specification?

The second question is air line placement. Does anyone have a picture of where their air line is? The pictures/description in the ARB manual sucks, it doesn't even look like an H233B carrier in the picture.

You're right. .002" is tight. Here's specs since you probably don't have the ARB manual.

I do have the ARB manual, but we have the RD24 (which replaces the RD17) and it does not have this page.

Any pictures of air line placement?

Thanks

The FSM says .0039 to .0079. Mark sent me the relevant pages in a PM.

The gear set looks brand new, so I don't think it was damaged by running it with too little backlash.

Anyone have a picture of where their air line for the ARB goes in on the casing?

There's a look in the bottom right picture in this link

I thought I had one of the copper line coming out of the seal housing on the locker before I put it back in the axle, if I can find it I'll post that.

Rickrolled.

I'm going to have to set some new forum rules. Something about blanket parties for anyone who rickrolls another member. smiley2

Wow, they run that right up next to the ring gear. I think I'll leave a bit more clearance from the rotating stuff when I set up Gummy's.

Thanks Steve.
