Alright guys, I have 2 axles to start my project. One is a wagoneer d44 that has clean tubes and is ready for welding and a EB d44 that needs to have the welded on wedges removed. the eb axle is 2.75 inch tubes and the waggy has 3 inch tubes. The link brackets im using are for 3 inch tubes. the waggy is a stock axle and the eb has the gears i need, ox locker, and chromo axles. im thinking the eb axle... i dunno.
92 pathy- 3 link front, long arm rear, front EB 44 with ox locker and full chromo shafts, rear with full carrier detroit. 4.88/4.9 gears front and back. Currently on 35's. |

that's a tough one. The gears and the locker will interchange in the wag carrier, but the shafts won't.
The wag housing will better suit you assuming you're running leaves or coilovers....you might consider trying to unload the shafts on Pirate or something and getting upgraded shafts for the wag axle with the proceeds. 1998 Frontier 4x4, 2002 Xterra 4x4, and Z28 street rocket Pass here and go on. I would think that he could reuse all of the parts of the chromoly shafts with the exception of the long inner. Most of the short side axles are the same length, only the long sides differ. He should at least be able to re-use the outers and universal joints and just buy new inners.

I don't think so, Brent. Looking at John's EB axle compared to mine, the diff is a lot closer to center on his.

He'll be able to keep the outer shafts, thats it. I take that back, if the EB axle is all ford I'm not sure. Most guys I know with EB axles swapped to Chevy high steering knuckles.
I would run the waggy axles. Stronger axle tubes for one. 1995 KC XE-V6 4x4. |

I'm 3 linking it so i have to make a small truss regardless. im gravitating towards the EB axle because it has full chromo axles, even the outers are chevy's. Im going to be swapping on my chevy flat tops. Is the diff too centered on the axle for our output? or is there not much difference?

If the ED axle is built and has been swapped over to Chevy outers I would roll with it.
On a second note, I would check the manufacture of the chromo shafts. Check if you can install a full circle c-clip or snap ring. You could swap everything over to the waggy axle except the inner shafts, which would not add a ton of cost to the project. Both axles perform extremely well off road. 1995 KC XE-V6 4x4. |

the chromo shafts are yukon's i think. they are full snap ring ones and use a bigger joint than stock waggy axles do.
