What kind of issues are you having with the locker? I thought the lockrights were simple as far as operation?

His "friend" left out one of the thrust washers when they were putting it together. One of his axle seals started leaking after he put the locker in too.

Without the thrust washer the one side does not lock up, it just ratchets.

Yeah, it was a joint decision about that washer. I thought it was more of a shim, and we left it out. Live and learn.

The axle seal was my fault. I must have smashed it while putting the axle back in.

I was lucky, the guys that built roastbeef's rig did my locker, I was there and helped out and trying to learn since it was all new territory for me.

The seals, if they are anything like the pathfinder were a pita and easy to damage. The inner oil seal was easy to get at but the outer grease seal iirc is trapped by the bearing that I couldn't get off, had to take it to a shop and have it pressed off & back on.

I had the LSD originally and the locker is night and day, no comparison at all! Probably the best spent money!

This is for my Dana 44. Shouldn't be too difficult. Wink

...and all issues will be resoved by tonight. Period.

I am just kicking myself that we didn't spend more time trying to get that locker in there w/ the washer, instead of saying eff it, and leaving it out.

Altho, it still would not have made a difference... I'd still have to remove it all to replace the seal I effed up.

But you wouldn't have to pull the ring gear off and disassemble the locker (which is quite not fun).

Call me tonight if you have any issues. Maybe I can talk you through it on the phone (480-406-4891).

lol

No, it wasn't the one we did at the guys place between our places... that was the rear axle... which is spooled up nice and tight btw.

I did almost all of chivo in 2wd when we went on Saturday (when I discovered the front locker was fubar). It grabs nice and tight.

Well, I got the locker reinstalled, but the d-bags at Checker gave me the wrong effin seals. Soooo, new ones should be in the store tomorrow, but I am also going to call a couple other shops in the AM, to see if they have it.

I *may* get the seals tomorrow, but since I missed their cutoff order time by 6 FAWKING MINUTES, I may not get them until Monday. Hence the reason why I wanna call around.

Sooo, tomorrow, I am carpooling w/ a buddy, and hopefully picking up parts after work. AARGH.

Something told me to order one each of their part number. Weak.

And so I sink lower into my az-run-induced depression. I swear I'm working on a deal for next year, but it would have to happen during the correct week for it to work out.

okee. I'm all loaded up and ready to go...

I'll be tearing out of here around 4. Res is supposed to meet up with Keith in Ft. Worth about the same time - and then we'll all meet up in west Texas where I-10 and I-20 come together.

See (some of) you chumps tomorrow afternoon!

Awesome guys... drive safe.

My front axle fiasco is really starting to piss me off.

I got new seals yesterday, which Checkers sold me the wrong p/n. Then, the ordering fiasco, only to find out that those will be wrong too... Now, I am trying to find the right ones, and these things must be made from Unobtanium, as everything needs to be ordered.... Fawk, I'm pissed.
