If you're coming up from Tucson, you're probably better off coming up through Florence on Hwy 79 and going out through Superior and into Globe/Miami. When in Globe, turn left on SR188 just past the Walmart and take that to punkin center. It's probably shorter. If you take the beeline, you have to go all the way up tot he rest area about 18 miles south of Payson and then double back down SR188 to get there.

1 pump, 20 trucks...

Also is Jakes Corner between the two trails or is it closer to Beeline?

No, there's a larger station there, and there's one on each side of the road so we can split the group up.

Jakes corner only has 2 pumps also.

Beeline to the 188 turnoff. That will lead you right into Punkin center.

http://maps.google.com

If you search for Punkin Center, AZ (not pumpkin, they may do that there but the town name is Punkin) and zoom out a bit you can see El Oso Rd and NF-26 which are the two trails we're running. Find the big gas station between the two or wait at one or the other.

Andy - did you post a list of required supplies this year?

Specifically, I'm wondering how much extra gas, if any, you estimate we'll each need.

I'd bring 10 gallons extra. That's what I'm bringing anyway...

Days 1-3 are run on the same tank. They'll cover under 100 miles, but a lot will be in 4 lo, so an extra 5 gallons is likely a must and 10 more would be safer.

We'll gas up once we come off the mountain on day 4, right before we run the foothills trail.

I'll be bringing a bunch of extra gas (25 gallons), but I get crap mileage and I have a tank that's not much bigger than a Nissan tank (25 gallons).

I believe it was posted a while back in this thread that we are shooting for 11:30 ish at Punkin Center, which would probably put us through Payson somewhere between 12 and 1. I would monitor Swankynet (CB Channel 17) for vulgar language, and hilarity coming through Payson. More than likely we will blow up every establishment with a restroom in Payson when we come through.

That's not right. When we drive through punkin center we will be on our way to the day 4 trail head. I would guess we're not going to be in payson till around 3. It is a fairly short trail we're running.

So, my time for meeting ya'll in Punkin Center on Thursday still stands, right? I will be there around 11ish. That will give me time to refuel from the trip up, air down the tires, and drop one last deuce before leaving pavement.
