Welcome. Does the Nismo have the factory locker?

It's a fine line between clever and stupid.

The Xterra is the wife's baby, and is nothing more than a grocery getter and taxi for her and the grandson.
The Frontier is not a mall crawler...but is 2WD with the factory E-locker. I've done 3 trips to URE with it and have run it on all the trails except Rocky Mount and Daniel on its own power. It has lift spacers in the front, shackles in the rear, and Maxxis Bighorns on the rear.
I wanna run Gulches but will not go out there without another vehicle going with me. I don't have sliders or aftermarket skids...yet, so I have to be reasonable with regard to what I go through. I expect to ding it now and again, but don't want to hammer it needlessly.
I haven't had a truck capable of off-roading since I was a teenager, but I'm definitely hooked now.

watch out how much you do. Keep in mind you are front axle deprived. Not trying to be rude. I know with the 04 and prior models 2wd to 4wd is pretty much plug and play. 05+ I haven't seen it done yet.

The factory locker should get you into plenty of trouble.

No slight taken. I don't plan to play alone, and the more vehicles along the better.

I have been contemplating the 4WD upgrade with encouragement from some new acquaintances.

I have ridden several times with a guy known as Nismo Trkr on mississippi-mud.com He has an '05 with the e-locker, lift, M/T tires and sliders. He is an accomplished driver. He has gone through several of the more difficult trails in this area without much assistance. It is an impressive vehicle, for sure.

He is on clubfrontier, but I don't know if he uses the same name over there. He, too, went to URE this past year.

Like you, he doesn't needlessly flog the poor thing. When we get to trails that will likely damage his truck, he locks the doors and hops in another vehicle and rides shotgun. He quite often takes video for me.

To be honest, 4x4 just helps you get stuck worse. Wink

I will ride down there with you, just pm me or something on when you want to go. I would advise you wait until it dries up some. Its a mess down there now.
