ok i was playing around with the tire and gear calculators cuz im thinking of getting a bigger tire...few questions
ok now i have 215/75R14 (about 26.6 i think it said)...i wanna go for about 30 and i think i can get some 16' rims from an chevy for cheap...
can i do this? will i have to change gear ratios and stuff or can i just slap them on there? if i have to change gear ratios, how hard is this to do and is there some DIY post that i can follow? oh and how do i find out my current gear ratio?

and if it helps...i have a 95 HB V6 2wd..all stock

Check the plate on the upper right of the firewall or maybe on the fender by the antenna mast. There should be a code on it. what is the overall size of tire you want to run, 30's may fit with trimming depending on offset.

Don't worry about gears. Wink But you will feel a difference in performance.

I'm not sure if Chevy has the same bolt pattern. Better try and test fit them.

I had 30s on my old 2wd....it was 4cyl and I never had a problem or felt I needed a gear change. It would tow my tent trailer with no problems. Now I did have a 3 inch BL so that helped the fit, I dont know how well they would fit with out one.

Heres an old pic of it with the 30x9.5r15.

i wouldnt worry about gear and stuff but remember...everything i do goes through my dad first..so to go bigger i either have to convince him that it wont make that much of a diffrence or actually change the ratios..are they hard? does a shop need to to that or something or do i need to buy something really expensive?

also..how wide can i go? how do i know how wide are the ones i have now?

If someone has the gears, you are looking at over a grand installed. About 600-800 just for the gears. unless you can set gear back lash yourself youll need a shop to do it. No gear change will be needed to just go to 30s.
