im new to HBs and pretty much new to import rwds,
i dont know if the truck im getting has a factory LSD. if it dosent i would like to get a either a locker or weld the diff and deal with the adverse affects on handling because i am going to be taking it offroad and dont want to get it stuck as easily as i did my dads f150 which i got to the axles also has anyone swaped out a z24i for a ka24de? i would like a moderate power increase w/o loss of reliability or sevear increase in weight tnks |

chances are if you're getting a 2wd Nissan, it's open in the back. The little H190 rear axle does have a Detroit locker made for it, which can be purchased through Automotive Customizers. That'd be somewhat better than welding.....I'd only weld it if it was strictly used offroad.

Last I heard, correct me if I'm wrong. If you change the motor out to a newer year you have to meet that years smog requirements.

what ever is newer u have to meet the smog requirements of that year
94 vehicle, 92 engine, u have to meet 94 smog id like to go GM as an alternative power plant but if i wer to i would go with a 3800sc crate motor maybe a shortstar but i just think that a smallblock would just be too heavy i like 4bangers because of the gas prices |

too heavy, i know about the rotary problems w/ apex seals, i was thinkin about havin one built with the SS3mm seals, the engine would be good for atleast 200000mi with stock boost
stock is still 276hp which is plenty for me.... i hope |

Diesals are heavy! Even the 4-poppers! But imagine this:
2.4 litre Diesal 4 banger gets fuel effenciency of a 1 litre gas on a 1500 lbs rig (and this we get in a 4400 truck! Over 25 mpg!) ...gets 4 litre 6 cyl horsepower (only weighing 50 lbs more than the average six, but around 100 lbs less than the average large small block!) ...gets 5.9 litre 8 cyl torque So u get (w/4 cyl diesal): 4 cyl fuel mileage 6 cyl hp 8 cyl torque Bad news: Torque breaks, not hp! Good news: Fual mileage rocks! Bad news: Diesals cost a lot ($4000 for a 2.5 litre Cummins) Good News: They are/will be/become easier to get Bad News: Oil pan fitting problems on many domestic 4 cyl diesals and 4wd trucks not fitted from the factory w/them Good news: There's always a way when there's determination! Bad news: you WILL NEED a solid axle swap on 4x4s Good news: Why do an engine swap of this caliber if you're not going all the way anyhow! If u can afford the diesal, u can afford a shop to put the axle in to make everything fit right! (or you're already an engineer and have an idea what u need to git 'r 'dun anyway!) There's always ezceptions to every rule! But, parts are really expensive and hard to find for Japanese diesals (even though they are super strong and reliable!). Good: Nissan into Nissan! Slick and clean! Bad: Parts availability Good: Way cool! Easier to fit w/IFS (though I'm sure some mods would need to be made, and 6cyl gear would be a MUST!) Bad: Those deals only come do often (is that good or bad? Anyway, have fun with your options! It'll be a project! Isaac 1993 Nissan Hardbody 4-cyl 4x4 SAS & dual cases 1/2 complete! the small cummins motors such as the 3.9L 4b series are some of the most rattly diesels ever made. people have gotten over 700lb ft of torque out of them, but from what I have heard and noticed (they put them in chevy panel vans) they are not tame enough for a street rig.
