I'd like to thank Desert Rat for his input,
decided not to lift my truck, reliablity
issues etc....I bought a magnacharged, 347
small block ford. used to be in a Cobra Kitcar,
got it cheap, 3000 miles on it. so my crewcab will stay an S/C....only a V8 ford now. It's
supposed to be in the range of 420 H.P.
The wife is very unhappy with this swap on a 38,000 mile truck. I'll keep pictures posted
on that "other site" I'd love some input on to
what is the strength of a stock 4x2 CC rear
differential? This truck has never been offroad,
any any other ideas, someone may have,I'd love to hear!

Am assuming you have an H233B rear? (no removable rear cover). That axle should be up to the task of V8 power.

The S/C trucks should have the H233B, and if they don't that's stupid. Although you see guys with C200s overseas doing crazy stuff, they don't have 420hp...

To put it in perspective, a Ford 9" is commonly used in drag cars but the H233B has a larger ring gear. And if you in fact do have the H233B you'll have 33-spline axle shafts.

I'd love to see pics of this Big Grin

Nissan overbuilds their parts. Your axle should have no problems at all handling that kind of power.

The pinion bearings are also larger than a Ford 9" or Dana 44/Chevy 10 bolt. The ring gear is 9.2" in diameter on the H233B, and your 33 spline shafts are about the size of a Ford 9" 31 spline shaft.

The 2nd-gen 300ZX had an R230 rear which is not quite as beefy as the H233B. Those guys routinely mod their cars (which have CVs, not nice solid axleshafts) to well over 400 Hp without driveline issues.

1st Gen 300ZX turbos had R200 rears (which run the same carrier and axle shaft sizes as a C200) and people are modding those out pretty crazy without driveline issues either.

I say wait until something breaks to really worry about it.
