Just picked up a 4WD rolling chassis today.. has everything except the engine and starter.. But the cab is missing a nice ammount of stuff and the bed is rusted.. So I'm moving my cab, bed and engine over to it in the next few weeks.. Hopefully the drivetrain is still all good.. Woo.. can't wait...

Pisses me off.. the 4wd with a body lift with 31's is almost the same height as my 2wd with a 3" sl 3" bl and 33's. lame. Smile

Well.. Unfortunetly it's not completed yet.

I have moved my body onto the 4wd frame and chassis.. put the engine in and bolted up the tranny.. But then realized the 2WD oil pan is bottoming out on the front diff so I can get the engine low enough to bolt the mounts on..

So Tomorrow I'm going to a junk yard and picking up a 4wd oil pan that will allow me to bolt the engine down and then I'll just have to hook the engine back up and bleed the brakes..

(I had to extend the brake lines.. the ones from the 2WD are a couple inches to short, but they have spirals in them that I pulled them out and they worked.. Also I have to get the downpipe from the 2WD exhaust welded onto the 4wd exhaust.. (not a big deal) Since the donor had the z24i and mine has the KA the exhaust manifolds were different..

here's a pic on how it pretty much sits now except that the engine is in it now..

You can see the height difference.. my pic in the sig is 2wd with a 3" SL and 3" BL on 33's the pic here is just with a 3" BL on my 33's. a lot more clearance..

If you are willing to wait for the mail, my friend with the red SAS HB has a 4wd oilpan that he wants to trade for a 2wd oil pan.

You may have to swap Oil pickup tubes also. I know the z24s are way different, not sure on the KA24s... I had the same problem when I converted my 720 to 4wd.

2wd 2"BL 3"UCA with 30s next to stock 85 4wd 720.

This thread is almost 2 years old. I would search around some more and see if he has another thread on the subject before bumping this old of a thread.
