I was first stationed at MCAS Futenma in '72 for 12 months. This time we are at Kadena AFB. My wife works for the Navy Hospital. We just moved "off base" to the other side of the island. Gate II is closed for major renovation but that is the road we take, 20 minute drive.
I use a metal detector and find many interesting items. I have a WWII topographical map and I will be "detecting" significant battle sites this spring. I have found many caches Japanese and American ordance. I have a picture, somewhere, of me holding a few Japanese grenades. This year will be a good one!

WOW! You can't do that here. It is a huge fine and jail time if you go metal detecting on battle sites. I love metal detecting and have found many items, but never any war time stuff, lets see some pics!
