I gave my new second-hand 1995 Pickup's V6 its first oil change the other day.
A Napa gold filter and 3.5 litres of Castrol GTX 5-30.
Yuck, with the black soup that was in there before, I 'm thinking of changing the oil again in 2,500 or 3,000 km just to make sure the engine is rid of the crud that was in there.
But boy is the engine happy now. No more valve clatter on start-up and ticks along like a happy little clock!
You mean ,what if you were to leave in some old dirty sludgy oil and the old filter when you changed your oil?

It's about who gets to decide: how much energy we will have... where that energy will come from... what it will cost... It's about simulations, scenarios and monsters conjured up by computer models that should never be used to chart government policy -- especially on matters that will profoundly affect our livelihoods, living standards, life spans and dreams of a better future.

Just curious ... What if I was to change the oil but not the filter after about 1000 km, then the filter with the next regular oil change after that?
I wouldn't do that. If you just want to change something I'd do filter. That is if you itend to run for 1000k then swap the filter then after the rest of the interval do both, other wise do them both.
