went out today to check the gear oil level in my fwd 85 king cab stocker ; (as of now); took out the plug and a gush of 80-90 came pouring out , (the plug on the passenger side about middle of tranny). is this the only plug to fill or is there one up higher ? should it have poured out ? i hurried out and put the plug back in . thanks

The plug on those tranny's is too low. To fill it people recommend filling it from the top of the transmission or jacking up the side the plug is on a bit so that doesnt happen. If you don't you won't get enough oil on it.

Be sure to use the correct oil if you decide to top it off or change the oil. Use only a GL4 rated oil, I recommend you stay away from those that claim to be both GL4 and GL5 rated. A search of this site should get a lot of returns about which oil to use and why.
