So yesterday I decided to drain and fill the auto tranny. I checked the fluid before draining and learned that the shop that put my cooler in overfilled it by ALOT.

The premise for swapping fluid was that the tranny was slipping if I was sitting at a stop light for more than a minute. Any other time the Tranny felt fine, and small stops werent a problem, only if it was longer than a minute.

I have swapped the fluid, and put the correct amount in, but the problem remains, any thoughts?

Robin

So what is it exactly doing when you're stopped- you say it's "slipping", but you're stopped....?

You could try some of the Lucas transmission fix. I've heard it works pretty good.

Personally any time I'm stopped for more than a couple seconds I pop my auto in neutral to save wear and tear on the transmission.

OK, I gather it slips more than it normally did when new?

How many miles on her? How many miles since the last time the AT has new fluid?

It's only one drain/fill so far. Maybe
another will help. It's cheap enough to find out before digging into it further.

?Maybe a "band" or two needs tightening/adjusting?

Allright, thanks for the suggestions guys, it turns out that measuring it while its cold is completley useless (Thanks Datz). So i emptied as much as i could, put some in, warmed the tranny up and brought it back to normal level one quart at a time.

I threw some lucas in there, and all seems well.

I would love to swap a manual in, but swapping out the pedal assembly gives me nightmares Eek

Oh, c'mon now, you can do it. We've got Rachel's Fronty to use as a template. Besides, we can work out all of the bugs on yours so it'll be a piece of cake when mine needs doing. Razz

The Pedals are the easiest part...actually it was all quite easy.

Lucas is da chit for autos and I also drop my in neutral when sitting.

yes being another person who has completed the auto to manual swap it really was quite simple. Seems like it wouldn't be but it is such a good mod as well

That sounds likew a good idea, Robin...
YOu might as well get your money out of that AT before swapping it out.
