I think my truck is starting to have transmission problems. What is happening is as I accelerate the RPM's seem to shoot up while the truck slowly picks up speed. The thing that has me stumped is that it makes a noise like a giant blower fan being turned on. It will make the same noise at higher speeds like 70-80mph. I'm really thinking it is in the converter. What do you guys think? Also, I have been doing some searching and was wondering if anyone has experience or knows of someone else who has delt with these guys? Maybe some of the 510 or Z guys?

Definately sounds like some tranny slippin.'

When was the last time you changed the fluid? Could be a TC problem, but I really dunno. I had a car that did a similar thing, and it cost me a rebuild Frown

The tranny has had regular service with te last one being 9 months ago and that was a full flush with Lucas as always. I have a spare trany but it needs a rebuild as well. I am just figuring since I will be into it, I may as well upgrade now. Anyone else with ideas?

I think I have found a couple of places that will rebuild converters. SO my new questions are what is the stall speed of a stock auto tranny behind the V6? Should I have that modified higher or lower or keep the same stall speed? I figure if I am going to go into the tranny I may as well take it all the way. Thanks.

Stinky, you nailed it right on the head. I talked to another guy who said the same thing and as soon as I checked it I realized what was going on. When I replaced it, I think I realized the fan clutch has been going for a while.
