I am in the process of swaping axles from a 94 pathy into my 89 hardbody. This past saturday I swapped the rear in with no problems except I havent figured out what Im gonna do with the e-brake.

My questions is, I know I will have to swap the stub shafts on my cv's to the ones on the 94 to keep my manual hubs, do I need to actually dismantle the cv joint or do the stub shafts with the cv joint intact interchange. any help would be greatly appreciated,

My solution to the brakes was to use the Pathy lever next to the HB lever, two cables and some fabricating. I now have separate e-brakes that I use as cutting brakes. If I have a rear wheel in the air, I can lock it.

As for the hybrid shafts, you will have to unclamp the outer boots and slide them back.
Use a soft-faced hammer to knock the outer birfield joint off of the shaft.
Do the same to the other set of axles.
Knock your 4-banger stubs/birfields onto the v6 inners/shafts.
Reclamp the boot. I was able to carefully spread the crimp on the clamps and re-use them. This might be a good time to replace the outer boots.

I did the same swap recently, so holler if you have any questions at all. Here are a few pictures that may help: http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2218930/28

Here are some better pics of the brake setup. http://nissan4wheelers.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/90110091041/m/32310711141/p/17

Thanks for the help,

I dont think your e-brake setup will work for me, I have the lever in the dash, but your setup is pretty slick.

It could still work. Add the Pathy lever between the seats (if you have buckets) and connect the dash lever to the right brake. Just a thought.
