A couple of issues;

The output flanges of the 94 R200 have five bolts. My CV axles have 6. I would like to keep all of my 4-banger parts from the CVs outward because it is all new. Q: will the outputs from my R180 fit the R200? Does anyone have a pair of R200 output shafts for 6-bolt that they could sell me cheap and quick?

The other concern is fit. Please explain to me again how the SLR diff drop kit works so I can try to fab my way out of this.

I'm sure all of this has been covered before, but I am just to stinking exhausted after spending a day (dark to dark) pulling axles in Pensicola with dvdswan.
BTW, dvdswan is one of the most generous, helpful people I have ever met. He busted is ass to help me today, not counting the parts yard scouting he did beforehand. Props, Dave. smiley4 smiley16

O.K. I got a shower and a snack and I am a little refreshed. I did some searching and found that ACE went through the same thing. I am still digging.

FWIW, we grabbed everything off the '94 from hub to hub. That is most likely what I will use. I just hate to have to remove recently-replaced parts. Frown

Next question: Will the driveshaft for my 86.5 C200 bolt to a '94 H233b? Is the flange the same size?

Thats the question to answer. All the 4cyl guys want to do for the 1pc drive shaft.

I have the h190 in my 2wd daily driver so I cant answer this question.

I'm glad you brought that up. There have been alot of 1-piece shaft swaps, yet I haven't heard of a flange mismatch. Hmmmmm.....

I will try to measure mine tomorrow.

It's a direct swap for the h233b. As for the c200 or h190 there are no documented swaps.

I just measured C to C on the bolts with a tape measure and they are the same.
I then measured from axle shaft center to flange face and found that the H233B is 1" longer in that direction. I may be able to shift the axle back when I mount it. A 1-piece shaft from a Fronty would be my best bet all around, though.

I think I will try going with the Hybrid half-shafts for now. That would be the most economical way to get this done before the AZ run. I am already spending money that WAS slated for tires. Frown

I will try that first. Once the original axle is out, I will try swapping the stubs. If that doesn't work, plan B will be the hybrid CV axles.

I love it when a plan comes together.

Oil pan clearance on the 4 banger will be the issue with the R200.

I have a hammer, a grinder and a desparate gleam in my eye. I just got the rear axle in last night, so I will be prepping the front next. I anticipate doing the swap this weekend.
Wanna' come help, Smith?

How hard was the rear axle swap? Are you upgrading in gearing?
