I use 10W30 oil plus Lucas Oil Stabilizer. I put in 3 quarts of oil and 1 of Lucas, No oil loss and it makes my VG-30 with 206k miles run quiet and smooth.

I run 10W-30 in my pathy year round. It doesn't seem to use much of it.
